I'm thinking of cutting out cable for a few months and joining too...
Did you get the little download thingy that lets you download the movies too?

Yeah, although I have my doubts I will be using that feature anytime soon.

I got suckered into it myself. An aunt gave me a free month giftcard and of course you must supply all of your billing details - bastards.

Had no plans on joining myself and pretty much resisted it. I suppose I could of just not used the card but I did not want it to go to waste.

Brujah 03-16-2009 05:13 PM

What genre do you like? Share a few movies that blew your mind maybe, or had you laughing or crying.

Like comedy: Super Troopers, the old Pink Panther flicks, Anchorman
Not into chick flicks.
Like the Die Hard series, Lord of War
Not a sci-fi guy (never seen star wars, LOTR, star trek).

I have watched it a few times and still find things amusing about it.

Brujah 03-16-2009 05:23 PM

Netflix has a thing where if you spend some time rating movies you've already seen, it makes some pretty good recommendations.

apple tv for the win!!!!!!

i hate waiting to get movies back and forth.

DefaultMan 03-16-2009 05:39 PM

Rate as many movies as you can and Netflix will start recommending genres and movies to you. The more movies you rate the more accurate their recommendations.

JenniDahling 03-16-2009 05:39 PM

I love Netflix, I am behind on the Big Love saga so I am catching up with their discs!

That's one of the great features with netflix. You select films you've liked and the software makes suggestions. I didn't think I would like Netflix as much as I do. Signed up nearly a year ago and it's been flawless.

I already know my main problem with them is going to be the picking and rating since I don't really do movies all that frequently.

d-null 03-16-2009 05:46 PM

you guys have time for movies?

I would think if someone did not have time for it they are doing something very wrong. One of the main reasons to stay self employed was so that I could have time to do things I wanted. Sure I am as busy as hell when I am working but hell if I had no time to goof off, veg out, or enjoy myself I would know for a fact something went very wrong.

PornMD 03-16-2009 05:51 PM

Bah, I'm blank...trying to come up with movies I didn't mention in the other movies thread and not coming up with much:

Comedy:

Baseketball
Team America
Stuck On You
Get Shorty (like a lighter comedy Pulp Fiction of sorts)
Clerks 2

Action:

Face/Off (a little bit overly theatrical action sequences but otherwise great movie)
Phoenix (k so I did mention this in other thread but falls under action)
Minority Report
Man On Fire
Sin City
Deja Vu (almost trippy enough to be sci-fi but enjoyable as action flick)
Next (ditto)

When I'm dispatching.. or if I need to chill because some form of coding is making me want to die.. or if I'm on a big, long call with a cokehead who likes to do all the talking..

TV is your friend. :)

"dantes inferno" season 1 and 2

Rochard 03-16-2009 06:05 PM

Haven't you people ever heard of a library?

My local library has rows and rows of movies I can check out. I had never seen the Sopronos and about six months ago, one season at a time, I checked them all out and watched them. The selection is pretty good too. Right now I just checked out Charlie Wilson's War.

PSSuperstars 03-16-2009 06:05 PM

Thank you for this thread :)
It'll give me stuff to play in the background while working tonight.. :)

Charlie Wilsons War was a good movie.

WarChild 03-16-2009 08:51 PM

Umm congrats. Maybe you can get to work figuring out the new fangled Itunes thing next.

Sly 03-16-2009 09:30 PM

I was a user for years... I canceled it recently though as I really don't watch much movies anymore.

ExtremeBank_Adam 03-16-2009 09:34 PM

Pay $1 a month extra and get the Blu-Ray's.

The downloadable movies look like shit on high-def TV's.

We joined NetFlix when it first came out because our town sold DVD players but you couldn't rent DVDs. LOL We are like member #69.. I'm not kidding.

We have been downloading movies onto our XBox.. they look ok. I don't think we have tried high def ones yet (Hi Adam!). But since we don't always wear our glasses when we watch movies, we probably just can't tell. LOL

Anna_Miller 03-16-2009 09:46 PM

OH.. what to watch.. we downloaded Vantage Point, and it was pretty good. I think Don't Mess with the Zohan is in our mailbox.

sure, but actually I am not talking about working, I am talking about how the internet has so much to offer that has nothing to do with work, I don't have enough hours in the day to even come close to taking advantage of it all, entertainment-wise and learning-wise.... I got rid of my tv and don't miss it in the least, but I really don't have enough time in the day to do everything I would like to on the net :2 cents:

...but if it's what you like, that's fine too of course, I just feel like tv is ancient history and I've gone beyond that years ago :2 cents:
