After President Obama's speech, Fiat and Chrysler announced they had reached the framework on a global alliance. The US government would provide working capital for a further 30 days while a merger was discussed, it added. If a merger is successful, then the government will consider investing up to $6bn.

nation-x 03-30-2009 07:43 PM

and they would be giving it to Chrysler... not to Fiat.

babebuns 03-30-2009 07:43 PM

Yeah man giving bailout money to a company that employs American's is the dumbest shit evar I BET THEY'RE ALL GOD DAMN TERRRRRRRISTS TOOOOOOOO. Fiat have a partnership with Chrysler that enables them to be a more efficient company, it doesn't say money is going to Fiat, but infact only mentions Chrysler and GM.

misbrisco 03-30-2009 07:53 PM

he needs to give me 1 million bucks and I will stimulate the economy

Yes, it is dumb because government is not the most efficient or honest allocator of capital -- the free market IS.

When you subsidize corrupt and inefficient companies you get more expensive disasters in the end, and you lose better opportunities.

That's right, because it was government out there buying all those CDO's and credit default swaps.

Errrrr, wait. :helpme

You know what dude, you're like the kid in the 9th grade who still believes in Santa Claus.
Everyone else has figured it out by now.

The invisible hand of the free market just got done anally fisting us, it's time to move on.

Twistys Tim 03-31-2009 11:07 AM

It was only a few years ago that GM tried to make a deal with Fiat -- and it ended up costing them $2billion just to get out of the worst deal ever!

See the story here

The joining of the most inefficient company in America (Chrysler), and the most inefficient company in Europe (Fiat) will surly make the most inefficient company in the world :)

Like an owner so attached to their old dog, the American government just cannot muster the strength to call the vet and have their pet put out of it's misery.

I suppose the government is responsible for homes defaulting and unsustainable credit cards debt too?

The blame here starts with YOU, the consumer, then the free market, THEN the government. Guess who ends up paying for it?

PornMD 03-31-2009 02:17 PM

The government giving money that pretty much doesn't exist to a company called Fiat is one of the biggest ironies ever, lol.
