PR is only but a small piece of the puzzle. You need to make it work with the other tools in your arsenal to be effective.

It does impact link sales, link exchanges, and, to a lesser extent, site sales pricing.

I have a few ten thousand pages with PR0 that rank #1 for what we targeted...

But without that PR, I feel so inadequet.

I thought we talked about this in the last thread you said the same.

You don't have " a few 10, 000" pages that are #1 for search terms.

Show me 100 of these, "tens of thousands" of top #1 spots. (even show me 10)

Got from PR N/A on a new mainstream site to PR3. Traffic dropped with 80%. :/

My sites all stayed the same, except my nerd/gamer related porn sites went up in PR.

Looks like now i have even more sites with pr0.But i dont care

interesting stuff.. I had this site I was testing with which was doing pretty OK as far as traffic....and after trading links with some sites on Thunderball ... it seemed to have lost all of its Google traffic.

The site was not banned from the index as I can still find random pages in there but the traffic that was coming for several keywords just dried up....

Not blaming TB ... just that there might be some "bad neighborhood" sites that are actively trading links in there... I am now switching to manual trades in other places....

One of my mainstream sites went from PR2 to PR4. Yeah it might not mean shit, but it is still nice to see Google showing me some love!

hehe ... pr means totally nothing ... i have a site, i posted about it once here at gfy, that it is for great keywords and similar sites are making me some money, but the site went deep in results for unknown reason. i really tried my best, best backlinks, good traffic sources ... the site got to from zero to pr2 ... but, nothing changed in possitions, its still deep down far deep after all that spam crap shitty guestbooks etc ... google is an idiot ... and pr is so fucking useless ...

One went from NA to 1, the rest didn't change.

few sites have more pr than before... few less... it is all the time so i don;t care..

I don't know whether to feel lucky or unlucky.. I was PR5 but sold a few links for $100 a peice a few weeks ago, now i'm PR4 ..

what is PR?

Unfortunately PR or Google's Page Rank appears to be the only method to determine a site's trade worthiness. I'm on the Traffic Trades board here and that's ALL they care about. I'm convinced that PR does not necessarily have anything to do with what size audience you're getting. Let me give you an example using 2 of my sites:

Bikinilane.com: (Mostly a shill site that I use to show friends and relatives what I do.)
Average # of Visits: 266
Average # of Pages: 364
Average # of Hits: 5,366.39
Aveage Bandwidth: 61.32MB
Alexa.com: 4,104,841
PR of 2 - that's right TWO!


SexyAmazons.com (A very popular art gallery involving female gladiator style combat.)
Average # of Visits: 3,796
Average # of Pages: 59,117
Average # of Hits: 473,785
Average Bandwidth: 6,704MB
Alexa.com: 184,825
PR of 1... ONE!

Even on a logarithmic scale, Bikinilane should be 2 to 3 Points UNDER Sexyamazons not a point higher!

As an advertiser I would be pissed as hell if I was paying a higher price for ads on a site that received only a percent (LITERALLY) of the traffic of a LOWER rated site! Imagine if television used a similar system and sold ads on the weather channel at higher prices than ads on CSI! Alexa, for all its many faults, is SOMEWHERE in the ballpark of a figure accurately reflecting traffic. Does anyone have an alternative to PR?
