Anybody in california ever get a notice that a conversation they had was wiretaped?

My friends 60 year old mom has no idea who she could have been or still is talking to but she got a letter from the District Attorneys office that said during a time period last year her conversations were recorded on a wiretap on someones phone she was speaking with, I guess this is state law. They were pretty much telling her that they were not there to listen to her just the person being tapped, blah blah blah.

It was from the Narcotics division from the city she lives in. I looked at their website and they have only done 9 total wiretaps ever, so this must be a real big deal. Someone is about to go down. Just wonder if maybe it was a huge company or something they were wire taping and maybe several thousand people got these letters.

Very very strange, makes you think twice about what you say on the phone, legal or not, haha

It seems like telling parties in direct contact with target would compromise the investigation or result in the individual being tipped off, I can't see them doing this.

If they wiretapped me they would probably thought that it was a skit from SNL or a comedy show, they probably wouldn't believe it was for real. For example, it would be 5 hours of "Who looks older, me or A? Do I look old? Do I need surgery? I don't contour my face what are you talking about!!" and then me and my friend would get in a fight "You're so superficial, all you talk about is your looks, you are crazy, i can't deal with it!" and then I will say "Your fucken crazy, all you talk about is your weight, I have had to suffer for 10 years!"

No one would believe the conversations I have.

I kinda wish someone would wiretap me and then tell me what they thought of my conversation.

How many times do I need to tell you to seek clinical help?

Everything I write on here is actually a joke. I'm a board character! I'm a troll! I'm not a real person. IJeez. Did you actually think I was serious about what I'm writing on here? I'm just joking with ya

Most of the time I'm not half-serious and just messing with ya.

The letter said the wiretaping ended late January, she just got it 10 days ago. Somebody is probably going down soon.

That is so bizarre. I will never understand government thinking.

That fact that they can do this without a judge being involved is nuts. I've never been wire tapped and I don't plan on ever being so either.

You can thank the Patriot Act.
