Webmasters - Does anyone still want MPEG over/as well as FLV, WMV and MP4?

What does everyone prefer these days? Do you still use MPEGs provided by programs? We are about to start offering MP4's as well as our FLV's and WMV and are considering discontinuing new MPEG FHG production.. thoughts?

They're so obsolete these days it's not funny but a decent whack of webmasters still use them. It would be good to find out why and why they wouldn't be placated with 3 superior alternative formats.

I would have thought that most webmasters use flvs on blogs MPG's,TPG's and tubes now a days

flv's have taken over.

Believe it or not, I still have members using webTV and mpegs are all they can watch :helpme
I've been trying to convince them to change whenever they write me - after eight years, I finally got a 70-year old to buy a computer :1orglaugh

FLV is like the standard now.

There's no reason to use download formats ancillary to FLV. With Flash video being pretty damn amazing in quality-capability coupled with the fact it is officially the world's most pervasive software platform (99.0% install rate of Internet-enabled desktops in mature markets).

More info on the ubiquity of Flash:

Well WMV's have downloadable DRM and MP4's are higher quality and work with ipods/psps/etc. We're all about the FLVs at Gunz and have been for years. We were probably the first to offer flash movie banners back before FLV's and you had to use a swf. It's more a question of what webmasters want to promote us with as opposed to penetration statistics. When you have thousands of affiliates some of them are going to have the ways they like doing things and MPEGs have lasted far longer than they've had any right to on the webmaster side of the equation. Most actual paysites dropped them long ago because of bandwidth and quality issues. Surely the day is close at hand, if not a distant memory where a 1-2 minute FLV/WMV/MP4 is preferable by all to 3 x 15 second MPEGs?
I'm just trying to guage the general consensus before we start talking to individual affiliates.

should always be flv's at this point, much smaller file size, until something better comes along of course

well, there's a difference between what webmasters use and what webmasters offer to their surfers.
