Driving and cellphones - get yer wallet out

FINALLY - it'll be illegal soon here in Ontario to talk on a cellphone while driving a car.

They'll start enforcement of it in October.

Minimum fines of $500 if caught.

Way overdue, IMO.

They banned the use in California about 18 months ago but forgot to ban texting :error ( fucking idiots). So a year later they ban texting while driving WTF. Oh and the first fine is a whopping $20 :error

Nothing more worse as they are so involved in their conversation and not the road

I think that texting is way worse than speaking on the phone...
There are also lots of hands free nowdays...

I personally never answer any calls while driving a car (usually rejecting them and contacting people back when I'm done driving).

I see it all the time.

However, this new law exempts cops and "emergency personnel" - because, as we all know...cops are damn near superhuman with their multi-tasking skills. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I receive about 5 calls a week on my phone.
I make 1 or 2 myself.
That's the way I like it.

rayadp05 04-26-2009 08:17 PM

I think it's good that they are enforcing it. Would like to see it happen everywhere.

LiveDose 04-26-2009 09:03 PM

Does that include built in car speaker phone?
