Poker Site Discussion.
I'd like some info on poker sites and opperating them.
Obviously there is the whole thing of they are "rigged" like here: http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=901971 (which made me think of this thread) Basically, how do they make money? For example ultimatebet.net ? Totally free and yet they are advertising on the TV night after night and sponsor Helmuth and anne duke (or whatever her name is) How the fook do they make any money? Another question: Where can you buy or get scripts created to make one? Also Something I noticed which may or may not make sense but it's just an observation: The majority of poker sites have casinos aswell which can be programmed like Fuit Machines (or VLTs) to bring in the money, while the poker tables are users only therefor they do need to "rig" them in order to make money Am i right there? please post opinions and any info you may have. This may be my next step forward within the coming months. and yes I realize I need about $20,000+ in order to start something like this up. discussion open! |

But what about free sites like ultimate bet? |

The other model of poker site is the monthly membership "sweepstakes" sites like SpadeClub.com and ClubWPT.com. both are $20/mo and have only freerolls etc. to win money (and ClubWPT.com has a corresponding TV show such that you can win all-expenses paid trip to Vegas + entrance on the show which is a 1-table tourney to win $5k. |
And as far as starting a site up, you would need a gaming license (there's probably a list of countries that do online gaming licenses if you google) and either join a network or license software and I bet either option is pretty expensive. I had the domain Poker.in and considered it but it looks far too involved and costly to do.

Should have looked into that. But I know the rest had pay sites. Thanks for the info :thumbsup |

Bet yeah depends what your looking for. There's no reason why you can't start with a $50,000 set-up and get that built up nicely. To get somethig original and built from scratch would probably cost 7 figures atleast though. |
Ask the canadia.. erm, indians in canada, they know an awfull lot on both how to set them up and set the user up. :)
|
if you were serious, it wouldn't hurt to actually join and play on a half dozen of the big ones for a long while so you at least have a clue about the business
I think that unless one is a huge player already in the media world that the window of opportunity to get started is long past years ago :2 cents: |

They all market the .net as free and simply use that to filter players to the .com. That way they are allowed to advertise, plus they get a bunch of type in traffic that goes to the .com from all of their offline promotions even though .net was used in the advertisement. I used to have a white label casino back in 2001, I'm not sure if anything like that is still offered and if they have one for poker. I was able to use my own domain, own design and got paid a nice % of player net losses. |
if you can send someone for $6 per free email join I can def. see how you make money.
I researched quite a bit about poker setups and the average was about 100K to get setup. It is illegal in US to offer a poker site and ya need to go offshores... there's alot more money then you think required... |

And white label casinos are a thing of the past. I spent a shit load of time looking for a solouting and the majority of people who did offer it, don't anymore. Not sure why but there is literally no-one offering this service. And if there is I haven't seen it posted because there have been a lot thread relating to white-label poker sites. I think everest and earn-united used to do them but everest no-longer does and earn-united now have a site which you have to pay for just to get a white label site. I think its called "own a casino" |

But if you are privately branded by one of the companies offering these services they are between $20,000-$80,000 for a full casino set-up. |
