Christians support torture

the religion of peace, turn the other cheek and judge not lest ye be judged is all for putting battery cables on some guys nut sack and attaching said cables to a car battery.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The more often Americans go to church, the more likely they are to support the torture of suspected terrorists, according to a new survey.

More than half of people who attend services at least once a week -- 54 percent -- said the use of torture against suspected terrorists is "often" or "sometimes" justified. Only 42 percent of people who "seldom or never" go to services agreed, according to the analysis released Wednesday by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.

White evangelical Protestants were the religious group most likely to say torture is often or sometimes justified -- more than six in 10 supported it. People unaffiliated with any religious organization were least likely to back it. Only four in 10 of them did.

The religious group most likely to say torture is never justified was Protestant denominations -- such as Episcopalians, Lutherans and Presbyterians -- categorized as "mainline" Protestants, in contrast to evangelicals. Just over three in 10 of them said torture is never justified. A quarter of the religiously unaffiliated said the same, compared with two in 10 white non-Hispanic Catholics and one in eight evangelicals.

lolololololol all religions have supported torture over centuries. Especially Christians.

The Truth Hurts 05-01-2009 04:38 AM

lol @ this whole anti-torture schtick lately...
been going on forever... will continue to go on forever... and people are somehow shocked?
just another meaningless all-talk-no-action media sensationalized cause to give self hating white people some meaning to their lives..

I sales water boarding techniques.

DWB 05-01-2009 05:30 AM

I support torture if it means I get to live another day.

Best part is...

"People unaffiliated with any religious organization were least likely to back it."

Someday there will be a prescription drug that will cure people of their religion. :winkwink:

iseeyou 05-01-2009 05:49 AM

To torture 1000 people to save 1 soldier life is worth it.

Christians love torture because they love to save lives.

As if the church would allow the pharma companies to come up with something like that

sperbonzo 05-01-2009 05:52 AM

The "torture" that they are referring to in the news these days is a "torture" that every US pilot goes through as part of their SERE training.... Apparently they survive waterboarding unharmed.....

Does this surprise you? Religion has been a violent part of some of the worst atrocities ever committed on this planet.

What if you and other people were dying of a rare disease and the only way to live another day was to involuntarily extract some body fluids from uncooperative prisoners during a painful procedure?

I agree with you and I would also torture people (if necessary) in order to live another day. My life is more valuable than other lives, especially the life of a sick pornographer.

absolutely. People who want to hurt innocent people should lose all of their rights. don't waste time, money in courts and prisons. train police to conduct torture and executions. we must stop people who want to hurt innocent people before they can act out their wants.

So if someone is caught about to bomb a group of innocent people, do you think we should pull in some jurors and hold a trial before we try to get information from them about possible other bombings about to occur? Do you think someone that just killed civilian innocents should have a day in court when caught red handed? There are times for due process and there are times when someone needs strapped to a chair till they talk. :2 cents:

Governments that do not respect people's rights inevitably end up hurting and killing innocent people. That there are still people who do not grasp this very simple fact quite frankly baffles me.

I believe in shoot first and ask fucking questions later. What about you? I hope you are not some fucking pussy who belives in arresting people and asking them questions and reading them their rights and bullshit like that.

Give me a gun and I will head shoot any motherfucker who looks like he wants to hurt innocent people. If he is still alive and speaking after the bullets run out, maybe I will ask questions. and if he already killed people, I sure don't call the police. hell no. I'm gonna stomp his face into the dirt til hes dead cause I have no tolerance for terroritsts. In my world, terrorists has no rights. What would you do? arrest him? Talk to him?

fatfoo 05-01-2009 08:38 AM
