PhatServers changing their name to AmeriNOC... your thoughts?

I also do not believe it to be a name change, to my understanding. I think that is their mainstream division or parent.

I could be wrong, but that is my understanding of the situation.

AmeriNOC is a better name. It will not be that difficult to rebrand it. Will it take some time? Yes, of course. But it isn't like the name Phat Servers is dropping off the face of the planet.

I've always hated the name phatservers. It sounds like something a 15 year old wigger would come up with. I love the company but hate the name.

Honestly, I still like phatservers better than AmeriNOC. That's just bad...terribad.

Same here, and AmeriNOC is way more pro sounding than "Phat" servers. I <3 them with which ever name they have.

yup 100% agree! About a month ago I picked up another server and the sign up form took me to AmeriNoc and I was like WTF and emailed them asking if they were offloading the shared hosting or something.. was glad to find out it is still the same staff just a different name

I myself like phatservers better cause it's what I've used over 6 years and will find it hard to remember the new name of my host :(

Good job on switching names, phat to me was stupid to begin with. Made it sound kewld00dish. This will allow them to grow i'm sure.

I'm looking to move off HostGator and I've used Phat before and liked it, just didn't like having to email them to add a domain, is that still going on? Or can I do everything myself via DA?

Looks like they dropped the entry level dedicated plan (bout $200/mo) - Entry is now $300/mo. That will lose biz to other hosts? Maybe they didn't want it?

Phatservers rocks and the name "Phatservers" is horrible if you want to actually grow the business and be taken seriously outside the world of 19 year old gallery submitters.

Well I know you can add them yourself in DA, but last time I used Phat I had to do it in DA, then email support for them to add the DNS entries... That was time consuming and annoying.

What I mean is, can I now add a domain to my account and see it as soon as DNS updates on my end or do I have to email them like before?

Smart move... I've always had to explain away the name of my hosting company to mainstream folks.

Oh I know what you're talking about. No, you don't have to do that anymore. It's all automatic. It started being automatic I want to say maybe two years ago...

Heh yeah, this is where I ran into problems... I actually referred a few mainstream clients to them and I always had to convince them that they were a good company despite the juvenile name :1orglaugh

Phatservers is a great company with awesome service. They are super fast, like within two minutes sometimes, to answer support inquiries. I have a dedicated server with them and am very happy. That being said Phatservers is a better name than AmeriNOC!

I understand the reason for the name change, but I'll definitely miss the Phatservers brand.

i think they could have bought xxxhost.com from me for a very reasonable price ;)

It is but it's also boring, people will remember the name phatservers way more likely than just another typical corp name. I seriously doubt they've actually lost customers because their name isn't some typical corp name. Hell look at google, when you think about it the name sounds ridiculous but that didn't stop them and a lot of other companies.

We like it too and it has worked very well for us, the site is not going anywhere.

NOC is too jargony. They could do better, alot better.
