American's need to learn to play on clay...
As a tennis player I am so disappointed every year by the poor effort american men show when it comes to playing on clay at the French Open each year..
Now I am not a pro. however if I were I would spend some time learning how to slide into my shots and not after them. I would also stand back on the return of serve so at least I would get them back in play... my 2c... |
thank you for sharing... anything else on your mind?

fuck clay.. its hard on yer body and isent nadal still creaming everyone on it??
I havent seen a good tennis match in years it seems.. i never go on espn much any more and now i have no tv.. |
Itīs tough to become an all-surface-player. There are very few guys who can do that really well.
Look at Andy Murray, when he was teenager was sent to Spain to learn to play on clay, he spent a year there, and now, well, itīs his worst surface so far. I have played on clay all my life, only played on hard court 2 times, and it really got me crazy, it seems to be a completely different sport :) |
I use to play semi professional tennis and clay is not as easy to play on as you would think....Spaniards learn to play on this service first just like americans with hard court. That is another reason americans will always be behind in this tournament
|
fact is most courts in USA, community, high school, college etc are all hard top courts..
dont think learning to play on clay will be happening anytime soon.. |
Apart from them shemale sisters Americans suck on all surfaces right now, what happened with that? Wasnt that long ago you dominated the sport.

The reason Americans cannot play on clay is because we don't have the proper climates to support clay courts. Most American tennis talent comes from California, where clay courts are far and few. A place like Florida has some nice academies with clay courts, but to move your way through the American ranks to qualify for international tournaments, you need to be the most proficient on hard courts. 2 of the grand slams are Hard Courts: US Open and the Australian Open. French is Clay and Wimbledon is grass. The reason for hard courts being the majority of the grand slams, is because it is the most universal and the most played on surface. To win on clay you have to be incredibly consistent (which US players are not, as they are traditionally more powerful). Also, to those who think clay is hard on the body: It's the best surface to play on if you want your body to hold up. Hard Courts destroy your body like no other. I can attest to that: 2 permanently clicking knees, shin splints, constant Achilles tendinitis and loose ankle joints. |
Come on guys just admit the world as better tennis players, stop blaming it on Clay ;-)
