Video Game Sales Still in a Slump Versus a Year Ago
Video game sales fell for the third straight month in May, as the industry just can?t be the extraordinary numbers that it turned out a year ago. It?s not quite time to panic. The recession is a drag, but the blockbusters for this year are expected in the second half, where a few huge titles debut in the spring a year ago.
Overall U.S. video game hardware, software and peripheral sales fell 23 percent in May to $863.3 million from $1.12 billion a year ago, according to market researcher NPD Group. Hardware was down 30 percent to $302.5 milionĀ from $433 million. Software fell 17 percent to $448.9 million from $540 million a year ago. Peripherals fell 25 percent to $112 million from $149.7 million a year ago. ... http://www.nytimes.com/external/vent...a-y-75625.html Who's the majority of video game consumers? Is that like half kids half economically active who were raised with PC's? Can hardly imagine parents not buying for kids I guess a game is a much better value for your buck than porn, paying $ 30 for a month of fun, wouldn't seem to be that recession fragile although the free pirated substitute is there too. |
Seems people have less and less time to play games...

Not a real avid gamer but I have noticed that they are losing out simply because no new ideas.

I don't agree with it, the last

I don't agree with it, in the last E3, Microsoft announced "Project Natal", it's a new engine that I THINK will crash Wii, there's no controller, in case YOU are the controller and the graphics are absolutelly fantastic... Many interesting features there, maybe will be release in december and the speculators said that will cost around $400 starting... For more, check it out!
