My favorite place is a little chain in New Jersey called Gaetanos. They rock.

I've had steaks from both Pat's and Geno's in Philly and didn't really care for them. I like the shredded up meat better.

I cut up the meat and fry it, etc.. my family loves them.

With cheese and steak... I also prefer shredded or to at least have the meat worked over.

Sadly there are not many good places for it in Vegas. :(

Busters Cheesesteaks in San Francisco near Broadway and Columbus are to die for. Make sure to get the liquid cheddar cheese poured over the thin grilled beef slices.. throw in some jalapenos hold the onions... its unreal.

Supposedly there is a new place getting ready to open up here downtown that should be the real deal... we shall see

Gaetanos rocks!!! I always go to the one in Mt. Laurel when I go back to Jersey. I always get american w/ onions and mushrooms. I used to go to a place that had a Franco Harris cheesesteak that came w/ fried potatoes. That was the best. If you're in Philly I would have to go to Tony Luke's.

Pretty much every sub/pizza shop in Boston has a decent cheesesteak or steak and cheese as we call it here but the 2 best are Charlie's and D'angelo's (yes a NE chain but still one of the best).

I get mine with grilled onions and peppers...american cheese. I don't fuck with any of that cheese whiz shit.

I've never been to the places you're referring to, so I can't say whether or not the sandwiches are authentic....but everywhere in America some place is making a steak sandwich with cheese, or their version of a "philly cheese steak" (hell, even Shoney's has one on the menu) but they're usually very poor imitations of the real thing.

i remember some place near the westin diplomat where i had one for breakfast which was the greasiest thing i ever ate in my life. i think that thing alone had like 2000 calories. since then i avoid them as i am already fat enough

Home made, real cheese, onions and sometimes mushrooms. No peppers.

Best Sandwich EVER!

Oh yeah man. A real cheesesteak will come in a brown paper bag for you to carry it home in.

By the time you get home, the bag is soaked through with the grease.

there is a place by my house that i swear makes better cheese steaks than half the places in Philly.

I personally get cheesesteak wit american, onions and mushrooms... bangin!

Sad to say I have never had a real cheese steak. We have philly connection here its not bad but I know its not the real thing.

Last philly cheesesteak I ate was from Subway and it sucked balls.

A few rules:
1)Gotta have the meat shredded up for sure.
2)No fucking liquid cheese EVER. Gotta be provolone, preferably with some cheddar or something else in there too
3)Load it up: peppers, onions, hots, lettuce tomato, shrooms, a touch of mayo maybe.

Yeah, like I was saying the place in Jersey, Gaetanos, makes way better cheesesteaks than the ones I had at "cheesesteak central".

I was so excited about going there too. I got in line at Pat's, my wife got in line at Geno's, we ordered our sandwiches from the soup nazis, after reading their racist anti-immigration propaganda that was plastered all over the walls, and then I was so disappointed.
The meat wasn't shredded up, the cheese wasn't melted, and the bread wasn't toasty. From either place. :(

You know John Kerry ordered a cheesesteak with provolone during the 04 election, they called him "elitist" for that. :1orglaugh

I was in Philly years ago at a little place who's name escapes me. I do remember it was about the best "samitch" I've ever had prepared by an Albanian family that never stoped screaming at each other.
