If you had US$10K per month to spend on ADS, which networks would you go with?

I need to ramp an adult site (not predominantly porn) up from a place in the Top 15,000 most visited sites on the planet, to a top 1000 slot.

Buying traffic is one way to give it a nudge upwards (not my preference).

Where would you put your $?

Or what other strategies would you employ? Where else to spend the $? I'm all for guerilla marketing techniques :thumbsup

Nicky 07-15-2009 06:46 PM

You only need to ramp up the traffic, no ROI?

spacedog 07-15-2009 07:03 PM

I'd go with JuicyAds because I can pick individual sites where I want my ad. I can choose based on % of english speaking traffic, # of impressions and/or clicks of current/past ads, etc. Each site in their system gives me info like how many clicks the top ad got and what the average is, % of countries and the cost per click for the ad spot.

With JuicyAds, I can also take out a run of the network ad for a specific cost per click.

With the individual sites, I pay a flat fee and if I get more clicks than I hoped for, I don't have to pay more.

Some sites set their rates as low as .009 per click which gives them low flat per time fees.

I can place ads in many various sizes of image as well as text

Traffic Nicky. But I want it targetted traffic, not dross from blind links, or tube type traffic, they are not the kind of surfers I'm after.

I am peppering the top 10 in google for 20 or so of my target phrases, so can't do much more on the SEO front.

Anyone have experience with JuicyAds? I've never tried them.

I'd need run of network, English speaking sites.

I'm surprised you didn't put Adwords/Yahoo in there.

I got banned from Adwords over a copyright dispute, which the sponsor I was pushing actually backed me up on. Crazy. I hate lining their pockets too.

Yahoo - could go that route.

I was thinking of getting a wide reach outside my usual keyword sphere, with a huge variety of sites, rather than just targetting a few hundred phrases relevant to my site on the search engines.

I'm also unsure of the effect advertising on Google or Yahoo will have on my naturally good rankings for my target phrases. I've read so much in the past about paying for advertising having a negative affect, it worries me a lot.

I need to hire WiredGuy for a week. What are your fees? :)

fuzebox 07-15-2009 09:34 PM

Ugh, every company in that list has garbage low quality traffic :(

CunningStunt 07-15-2009 09:52 PM

Yes, I expected people to say that. I've tried 4 of them over the years with limited success. Looking for a better solution all round really.

I was hoping for some intelligent dialogue as to what you'd do with the money instead. I should have worded the question better, my bad.

Too true, you only talk about it after its dried up! Wikipedia used to be an amazing source for PR it was only exposed as such when Wiki closed the door.

I've used juicy ads and had no success at all. Juicy ads is horrible for conversions. You don't get a good ROI at all and it is a waste!

I'd invest the $10,000 in SEO!

nekrom 07-16-2009 02:11 AM

I would spend the money on advertising your site in paysite member mailings & buying spots on blogs operated by webmasters.

I would also avoid all the junk traffic brokers that you see on the forums. With the exception of Ravo that sells decent clicked text link add spots, though most often they are sold out.

Look at the sites that are sold out of spots next time and get on the wait list. There is a reason why they're spots are sold out. :2 cents:

Thanks for the good words nekrom. I think we have a few of those text link spots open. (but, not not enough for a $10K/month budget, lol!)

www.ero-advertising.com is not in the list ?
500 million ad views per day

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/avnads...dvertising.com

Pagerank, reach & page views make www.ero-advertising.com belong in this listing IMO

A better question would be, What would you do with a $10K marketing budget.

Advertising is only one component of the marketing mix. I think you'd be simply throwing money down the drain spending it only on advertising.

If you want instant results, the Google / Yahoo route would be probably the best option out of those above, load up some campaigns with 200 relevant to your site keywords and away you go.

Good luck!

Best FEEDER traffic source: TRAFFICSHOP!

We are very careful about sites that send traffic to our system, we work only with quality sites!
