A designer I used to use just tried to phish my info

He sent me a link to a bogus YouTube video that was basically a phishing site.

When I asked him why hes trying to steal my info he went offline.

Has it really come to this?

seeandsee 07-24-2009 09:50 AM

Maybe, but it wasn't on ICQ.

Name please.... why do you people insist on hiding these fucktards? No wonder this continues to happen... or this is just fake drama. :2 cents:

For a few reasons, one I am not here to drag peoples names through the mud. If that automatically means fake drama then so be it.

Second, I didn't fall for it, so no harm done.

Third, by reading this and not knowing who it was, everyone might be a little bit more cautious about their personal info.

ExtremeBank_Adam 07-24-2009 10:02 AM

What was he phishing for? Your YouTube login? I don't understand what info he would have received from sending you to a fake YouTube site.

No, it said it was a video with "mature content" and was trying to get information for age verification.

people will phish anything and everything cause they think if they can get your password to something small like youtube that you might use that same pass for more important things

I am always very leery logging into anything and always look around for tips that the site might not be the legit site i want to log into

bobby666 07-24-2009 12:58 PM

fatfoo 07-24-2009 01:14 PM

So because someone who used to post here is phishing for peoples info and almost got you, but never actually did, you're not gonna tell us who it is? So how bad will you feel when someone comes back next week with info saying they were actually phished by the guy and you never told anyone because "you never fell for it"?

lagcam 07-24-2009 11:49 PM

I am sure it's unrelated but the owner of a competitor site of ours often sends me youtube links to click on but I never do because I think he is a dick, and I am not interested in what music he likes, but this is a valid warning to people whether he names names or not.

Sometimes a youtube video isn't a youtube video.

Im sorry, but that is the dumbest thing ive read for a long time.

So.. you DID decide to get on the soapbox and shout you almost got ripped out by some asswipe that could be stealing a shitload of money from us. But: You arent gonna "name names"?

In my book: Your now as guilty as he is.

Your exposing us to some fucker that might be stealing our money tomorrow. Now its an attempt that failed and was perhaps easy to see. But if he is into that, he might get better at it.

Sorry bro, but that shit doesnt fly like that. Either expose his name in her now, or your really done in my book.

Klen 07-25-2009 04:35 AM

Was this on msn?I constantly get malware phishing etc links on msn so i turned it off.

this is rather lame though man...

katharos 07-25-2009 08:07 AM

if that was an email it can be spoofed so it doesnt need to go from him. and if it was on any messenger it can be virus problem in his pc and he dont need to know about that ...

Mutt 07-25-2009 08:10 AM

no wonder Shoehorn doesn't post here much anymore, he posts something and gets attacked by imbeciles.

WiredGuy 07-25-2009 08:13 AM

I used to get that crap on MSN. Their account was probably compromised.

Ecchi22 07-25-2009 08:15 AM

Probably a virus problem / hacked account :)
