It is TIME to, so to speak, think out of the Chinese food take out box and OWN this future.

When I first saw this graphic, it reminded me of George Soros' book... paraphrasing here--I may not know the full details of the future but I only need to see its broad outlines for me to form my strategy so that when it comes--I'm in a position of OPPORTUNITY.

If they aren't, that's just one more potential revenue opportunity for a smart billing company.

Yep, they are :)

A friend of mine hosted an exchange student from China. One night I basically interrogated her to find out about business opportunities there. Many Chinese people have credit cards, the problem is that many of them don't have much money. The average person only brings in around $4,500 - $5,000 US per year. That is for people living in the cities. Those living in the country make much less.

That said they do love American products. The entire time she was here she wanted stuff that actually was stamped, Made in the USA - not easy to find BTW, everything sold here is made in China. She said her friends all want American music, American clothes and American stuff. So they will spend their money, it is just a matter of finding out what they want and how to sell it to them.

One of the larger problems is, most of the Chinese go to internet cafes to get online. Not exactly the best or most private place to be looking at porn.

Until they come out with private booths (like many other Asian countries have) or get online in their homes, I don't see a large amount of Chinese who can or will pay for porn.

Have you spent time in China for anything other than a quick holiday? Most people do not have the net in their homes. Phones yes, buuuuuuut.... How do you suggest getting past all the blocking that the government does? And who is going to bill for it if you do?

I'll admit, whoever can crack those nuts can get paid, so long as you don't get caught and extradited to China to stand trail for it. That's a 7 year prison offense there.

If they would loosen up a little and allow porn, it will be a pay day for those who can do it, probably one that would dwarf the golden years of the USA porn internet boom.

Caught this post after your other one.

Yes, you are right about that. As of now, they try to block it all.

no problem

If I wanted to build sites again and could write any of the chinese languages, I would set up educational video sites. That kind of content is HUGE in most of asia, and I would think China would be one of the next places it would expand.

Like the videobroadcasts they have in the classrooms in Japan and Taiwan

I was looking at some mainstream keywords on google insights for search, had a look at the keyword "games" and was pretty suprised at where most of it was coming from. The darker the blue the more it is typed in from that country

Many of you are thinking in one dimention here.
With this many people in china getting online think more in terms of Labor rather than buyers.

There is great potential there with China getting bigger online.

And dirtywhiteboy is correct. For a dirty white guy he does seem to know Asia pretty well.
Ive been all over Asia and lived in parts of Asia for months on end. Most people really dont have the net let alone resources to buy. Finance or restriction wise.

Think labor though. Especially mainstream. A huge Potential is there.

Juicy D. Links 07-27-2009 12:44 PM

YES! Huge potential for labor.

With that said, 70,000 factories have closed in China over the past year. 1.5 MILLION collega grads can not get jobs. They are DYING for work right now.

Juicy D. Links 07-27-2009 01:38 PM

I posted this because everyone is worrying about tubes and neglecting an opportunity 10000000000000 times bigger. Think OUTSIDE OF THE TUBE BOX for a moment. There's a HUGE GOLDMINE opened up in our midst and people aren't reaching out for their shovels and mining machines cuz they're stuck with old assumptions.

The future is here. If you're looking at Tubes as a wasted opportunity, don't blow this one. Don't miss the train. Put on your creativity caps and get to work. Make that money!
