XBIZ welcomes AVN...

In direct response to the unprecedented outpour of requests from the adult internet community, I welcome the founder and president of AVN to engage in any form of direct talks with me and the other trade show producers about working together to meet the demands of our community for the benefit of our industry.

B2B advertising baby

milan 08-15-2009 04:28 PM

As much as the offering is great the media to do so is the wrong one, those type of "contacts" or "ideas" should be first approached in person or in private ways and not over a public forum...

why not, he can't go wrong by posting what he did here. Even if the other side stepped up to talk with him, you don't know what ebiz's demands would be, how hard they would try to work something out, etc... but the gesture sure makes them look good. Which might be the point of posting this. Who knows but it certaintly cant hurt them for posting this and trying to look like the better side.

Could it all be a PR stunt... you mean a news company trying to manipulate people and what they see ? no way ;) lol who knows if their intentions are good or not, you wont until you see results... which we are a long ways from seeing if ever.

Since Alec knows this is very likely the case he can make the offer publicly, come off as magnanamous, and have very little risk of having to actually follow through.

3xTom 08-15-2009 06:18 PM

Good deal I would love to see a huge mega show combining all the forces of these 2 companies..

Atticus 08-15-2009 06:20 PM

Well played XBiz.

Let's see, AVN has been putting on 2 shows a year for awhile. XBiz comes in and decides to do shows as well, thus helping to clutter up the show calendar. Everyone complains there are more shows than can meet demand and then XBiz suggests that both XBiz and AVN should work together "for the betterment of the industry". (on a public forum)

I can only guess AVN is seething at this behind the scenes. But then again they put themselves in this spot by offering up crap so again, well played XBiz.

alias 08-15-2009 06:31 PM

Can't you all just get a d0ng?

J$tyle$ 08-15-2009 06:32 PM

Been watching this all unfold, and I'd agree that a sit down or some other form of communication is practical for all involved (trade shows, sponsors and affiliates) at this juncture. Whether it happens or not, I applaud your efforts, Alec.

Relentless 08-15-2009 06:35 PM

XABVINZ Show?

Would be impressive to see.

MaximX 08-15-2009 06:59 PM

That would be a good combination, XBIZ and AVN Show..

I would love to see an event like that.:thumbsup

Only in this industry would people welcome the consolidation of choices. Nobody needs to have a "sit down" regarding the state of industry trade shows. It's a free market and if there are more shows than the market will bear, then some will die off. If all of the current shows continue to offer a decent ROI for sponsors, organizers and attendees then they will remain. If, as an attendee, you feel a show isnt worth your time, then dont go. If enough people feel likewise you'll see the show cancelled.

Combining the two biggest shows of the Summer into 1 isnt going to solve anything. Without competition it will just end up raising sponsorship, badge and hotel pricing.

If you really wanted to work together for the "benefit of the industry" how about setting up a universal advertising guideline and not accept ads from companies that utilize practices that harm the industry as a whole, ie: hidden pre check cross sales, hiding behind DMCA's, using stolen content etc.

Just saying...

Back in in the days, We were one of the biggest sponsors at these shows that started the growth for these shows. Along with Porn Holio and CyberErotica. We would each drop about half a mil on each show, Vegas and Miami. We had the Open Bar for everyone for the whole weekend along with so many free giveaways. I have to admit that our presence there was one of the reason we became so successful. Along with all the Webmaster that trusted us and still do.

They were fun events, I wish I could pull up old pictures of our 18 Wheeler Rig Wrapped with CyberAge all over it sitting on the convention floor, not sure how many accidents it caused with the Sexy Models on it as it was driving up the 15 Freeway, then all the way to Miami.

Bottom line is, the shows were great at one time. I think Greed got involved, then too many started out and we stopped doing the shows all together.

Alec, it takes a real man to come here and make this happen. Hats off to you bud.
This can be Huge...Xbiz/AVN Introduces...Xbiz/AVN/CyberAge...Fuck it, get me involved too while you're at it. I may even reconsider and start going all out again at the shows.

I've been saying this for years, and I'll say it again...Do the B2B but please someone do some B2C. Get some radio ads out, put on some infomercials on the Networks, "Wanna make money in the online Adult Biz, Join us bla bla bla. People need work right now, they would pay 50 Bucks to come in and learn the business. Shit, I've showed people how to make money in this business over and over. I know guys living in Mansions on Lake Property because of me showing them the biz. We need to get more newbies out to the shows.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents. I'm sure you guys can pull it off. Good Luck!!!
