Senator Ted Kennedy.....THIS IF FOR YOU ...FAT BASTARD

Makes me so sick the news making this guy out to be some kind of hero...fuck him. This is the ONLY thing you must remember about old Ted Kennedy...

July 20, 1969 the "Rosemobile" being pulled from the channel (Poucha Pond).

As young and beautiful Mary Jo Kopechne suffocated inside the Delmont 88... Ted, the conscience of the Senate, swam to his own safety.

Ted fled to his posh hotel room, then to sleep, perchance to dream, never bothering to call the local constabulary.

A science teacher and 15 year old boy fishing from the "Dike Bridge" found the car in the morning.

While I agree with you on my thoughts on him while he was alive. I didn't ever wish death on him, and while it is obviously newsworthy, they are portraying him like he was the pope or something.

I saw an article I think it was on cnn yesterday about how Obama is now the Kennedy Arie apparent... LMAO! Like seriously?

But again wished no ill will on Teddy, but its a good time to avoid the "news" for awhile. lol

Skipping this one...

TheSenator 08-27-2009 10:37 AM

Reminds me of the time when my cousin, his friend and I were jumped by a gang in Peru.
We were walking along a main strip and a bunch teens just started bashing us. We all got loose and ran as fast as we could. I was ahead of the pack when I heard my cousin yell out loud in pain. I turned around and the gang caught my cousin. His friend stopped, looked at me and kept running. I stayed, said "fuck it" and went in like a maniac to grab my cousin. Luckily, the cops came, the ganged disbursed and we got saved from being beaten to a pulp.

People talk shit about 'how they would handle a situation' when shit goes down. A majority of time most people don't step up or just make excuses. I don't blame them because the "fight or flight" feelings are extremely strong and hardwired in the human brain.

I hope all you guys talking shit about what went down with Senator Kennedy get to re-live his situation a few times. After that, come back to this thread and tell me how you did.

Tom_PM 08-27-2009 10:38 AM

It's been said, it's been done, he's dead.

He had over 300 bills signed into law, and people from his state considered him "uncle Ted".

Now having said that, I hate spectacles being made of death. One of my first memories as a person was attending the funeral of my great grandfather and frankly I'm sick of funerals. Every goddamn 24 hour news network has to cover every fucking facet of the guys death like we're a bunch of ghouls. I have no ill will about him whatsoever, but I cannot attend another funeral.

Larry King already threw his career away by turning himself into the damn michael jackson creep show, enough already!

Yo Adrian 08-27-2009 10:42 AM

I watched some of the 'in his own words' documentary on CNN, that guy had some STONES. He did bail on that chick, ran to his own safety, didn't report the incident for 8 hours...... and then went to her funeral and stood before her family. Damn.

Sure he did, Cheney shot a guy in the face while he was drunk and "hunting" doves.
Laura Bush killed her high school classmate in Texas when she ran a stop sign.

Shit happens, but the rich live by different rules.

She was found in the back seat in such a way to suggest that she was alive for a while after the crash and was breathing in an air pocket. The car landed IN ONLY 7 FEET OF WATER but that fat drunk cowardly turd only cared about himself and did nothing to try to help that poor girl.

Ted Kenedy spent his life working against the interests of his own country including pushing the suicidal immigration laws that we have. He even wanted to give amnesty to the 10 to 20 million illegals in this country.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

It goes on in politics daily, and every one of them will assail the other at the drop of a hat if it means getting ahead. Senator Kennedy was no different.

With that said. The horse is long dead.

My nephew is autistic and does Special olympics everyear. Without the Kennedys it wouldnt be possible.

He wasnt some rich asshole who said "fuck them" to people

dyna mo 08-27-2009 02:33 PM

hmm...seems the actual facts of the situation don't correspond with how they are portrayed in this thread.

Quote:

According to his inquest testimony, ...Kennedy, driving at "approximately twenty miles an hour" did not realize that he was no longer headed towards the ferry landing.[6] Dike Bridge was a wooden bridge angled obliquely to the road with no guardrail. A fraction of a second before he reached the bridge, Kennedy applied his brakes; he then drove over the side of the bridge.

The car plunged into tide-swept Poucha Pond (at that location a channel) and came to rest upside-down underwater. Kennedy later recalled that he was able to swim free of the vehicle, but Kopechne was not. Kennedy claimed at the inquest that he called Kopechne's name several times from the shore, then tried to swim down to reach her seven or eight times, then rested on the bank for around fifteen minutes before returning on foot to Lawrence Cottage, where the party attended by Kopechne and other "Boiler Room Girls" had occurred

According to Kennedy's testimony, Gargan and party co-host Paul Markham then returned to the pond with Kennedy to try to rescue Kopechne. Both of the other men also tried to dive into the water and rescue Kopechne multiple times.

When their efforts to rescue Kopechne failed, Kennedy testified, Gargan and Markham drove with Kennedy to the ferry landing, both insisting multiple times that the accident had to be reported to the authorities.[10] According to Markham's testimony Kennedy was sobbing and on the verge of breaking down.[11]

Kennedy went on to testify that "[I] had full intention of reporting it. And I mentioned to Gargan and Markham something like, 'You take care of the other girls; I will take care of the accident!'?that is what I said and I dove into the water".[10]

Kennedy had already told Gargan and Markham not to tell the other women anything about the incident "[b]ecause I felt strongly that if these girls were notified that an accident had taken place and Mary Jo had, in fact, drowned, that it would only be a matter of seconds before all of those girls, who were long and dear friends of Mary Jo's, would go to the scene of the accident and enter the water with, I felt, a good chance that some serious mishap might have occurred to any one of them".[12] Gargan and Markam would testify that they assumed that Kennedy was going to inform the authorities once he got back to Edgartown, and thus did not do so themselves.[2]

According to his own testimony, Kennedy swam across the 500-foot channel, back to Edgartown and returned to his hotel room, where he removed his clothes and collapsed on his bed.[12] Hearing noises, he later put on dry clothes and asked someone what the time was: it was something like 2:30 a.m., the senator recalled. He testified that, as the night went on, "I almost tossed and turned and walked around that room ... I had not given up hope all night long that, by some miracle, Mary Jo would have escaped from the car."[13]

Back at his hotel, Kennedy complained at 2:55 am to the hotel owner that he had been awoken by a noisy party.[2] By 7:30 am the next morning he was talking "casually" to the winner of the previous day's sailing race, with no indication that anything was amiss.[2] At 8 a.m., Gargan and Markham joined Kennedy at his hotel where they had a "heated conversation." According to Kennedy's testimony, the two men asked why he hadn't reported the accident. Kennedy responded by telling them "about my own thoughts and feelings as I swam across that channel ... that somehow when they arrived in the morning that they were going to say that Mary Jo was still alive".[13] The three men subsequently crossed back to Chappaquiddick Island on the ferry, where Kennedy made a series of phone calls from a payphone by the crossing to his friends for advice; he again did not report the accident to authorities.[2]

Hah, George Bush Sr. not attending funeral: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...n/6590951.html

Quote:

BOSTON ? The elder President George Bush will not be attending Sen. Edward Kennedy's funeral.

A spokesman for Bush said Friday that he and his wife, Barbara, decided not to attend Kennedy's funeral after learning their son, former President George W. Bush, would attend.

Jim McGrath says the 85-year-old Bush feels his son's presence would "amply and well represent" the family Saturday.

Bush released a condolence statement on behalf of him and his son immediately after Kennedy's death. It was part of a stream of fond remembrances issued by Republicans.

The other remaining former presidents ? Democrats Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton ? will join the younger Bush at the service. President Barack Obama will give the eulogy.
Fuck, remind me to use the bolded excuse for funerals from now on...that's just awesome! I was expecting it to be some sort of schedule conflict when I saw the title but seeing that nice excuse, Bush Sr. scored some cool points, lol.

these comments portray the event incorrectly. fact is, kennedy tried to rescue the girl, went back and got help and THEY too tried to rescue the girl. and ulitmately kennedy was exonerated of ANY wrongdoing.

i usually don't waste time connecting the dots for peeps who can't figure it out on their own, but this one is so simple to spell out.

They said, life & freedom today is like 1000x better than it was 47, 37, or 27 years ago.

Has nothing to do with being a liberal, it has to do with being a decent human being. Clearly he cared more about himself than that woman. Even if he did try to save her, his actions after clearly show he only cared about himself.

Who needs advice to call the police? "Dude this girl is trapped in a car underwater, what should I do?" I wonder what one of his friends told him to go to sleep, call the manager when woken up, then chit chat about a boat race, then call for more advice. :Oh crap

Yeah, the 50's were lock down for women, no freedom's at all... we won't even go into black freedoms. Then the 60's, bomb shelters? Wow.. Mad war, protests, no gas, food shortages.. 13-16% interest rates through the 80's, nuclear bomb drills in schools.... and the lock down of speech has been greatly lifted, the attack on porn until really the dawn of the Internet..

Yeah man... Without question, freedom and life in American is probably like 100,000 times better for almost all Americans.
