OpenX VS SmartSpots

I have many sites and blogs and I would like to control all the ad space from one place.
I'm familiar with OpenX but I can't use it (or don't know how to use it) to serve various size banners (iframes) and IM Popups.

So I was looking into the Smart Spots.
Is anyone here using it (smart spots)?
How many ads do you serve with it?
Does it creates huge loads?
How do you compare it with OpenX?

Also I have account at Hosted OpenX and I use it to serve ads on one group of sites. I've noticed that ads are doing fine but that admin panel is not available often (due to database crashes or something). Do any of you use Hosted OpenX and what are your experiences with it? Biggest problem is what if they stop offering their service, or just block my account or something like that and all of my setups and stats will be lost.

smart spots will perform better with lower server loads i know before they created the product they used to use openx and were not happy with it.

do you use smart spots now?
can I hit you up on ICQ to ask you couple of questions?

Never heard of smart spots. What I don't like about openx is that is such a bloated system.
They include the full pear libraries. I don't like that.

What's the url to "smart spots"?

I bought and tried to use smart spots but when I tried using iframes they never would appear so I gave up when their support never answered back.

I would say that OpenX is better... specially when it comes to prices...

synapse 10-10-2009 05:33 PM

we use OpenX and so far very happy with it's flexibility ... throwing a million + impressions at it a day and no probs performance wise

XXXInsights 10-11-2009 02:47 AM

when creating a new zone you can set width and height to *

this way you can show different sized banners on your zone

I agree with you that OpenX is free, and more robust platform, but can it serve IM popups or iFrame banners of different size...

Monday bump...

SP looks good for people who want to sell ads and collect via epassporte directly to their accounts.

Yeah but openx can do that, the unique part of SP is the payment module. What about paypal, for people who want to use it for non adult networks?

Well, we didn't make SP to be unique.. we just wanted to get rid of openX as our servers couldn't cope with the load.. so we decided to make something light.

Should work with Paypal as well as the script doesn't communicate with epass in particular so don't see why Paypal would not work.. we have many mainstream clients.. not sure if they use the traffic sell options though

seadevil 10-12-2009 10:17 AM

i am using it on many sites works with 700k traffic nicely fast with out errors or what soo ever. simple to use, has duplicate function of banners for mass add. templates working fine, was little bit scared to insert scripts in templates due to google being a bitch to me 24/7 sites didnt drop traffic. soo very very nice script

LiveDose 10-12-2009 10:36 AM

Still are actually. Like I said I gave up on it but still would love to use my copy of smart spots if it was working for me.
