I guess nobody has informed this idiot that we just elected a President who is the offspring of an interracial marriage. Seems to me at least 50% of people were "willing to accept a child from such a marriage".

This happened in Hammond, LA, a town about 20 minutes from here where I used to live.

This is the same place whose school board openly defies a federal court order to not open school board meetings with "prayers to jesus".

I've been around. Everything you mentioned happens everywhere to some degree. I am sure you weren't the only person in the US getting his Obama sign ripped up. There are a lot more backwards ass places in the US... Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and West Virgina have some really scary parts where it's not their cousin but their sister they are screwing. A government official denying someone their civil rights is more newsworthy than someone getting beat up.

The racism is generally an overall southern problem, but the politicians believing they are above the law is much more prevalent in Louisiana than elsewhere.

Racism is every where and different types of racism, some areas its against the muslims, mexicans, or asians etc. It's just that the people up north are usually just more quiet about their feelings. I think it was Morgan Freeman who put it best, something like " at least in the south you know who doesn't like you".

As someone who lives in new orleans, and lived in California, I must inform you there are more racists in California than the south. There are more hate groups per capita and more racist violence there per week than anywhere in the south.

California has 84 registered hate groups (and has way more members than a few southern states combined)
Louisiana only has 22

Having lived in Cali I can assure you i saw more daily racism in the streets of LA than anywhere down south, especially in new orleans where blacks outn umber whites. I also experienced more anti-white racism there than anywhere else.

louisiana has a pop. of under 5 million while california in itself has over 36 million, so if ca had more of a problem with hate groups per capita than louisiana, they would have to have over 7 times as many; they have less than four times the amount. closeted hate is not to be underestimated either. i wouldn't blanket the whole state of ca just because of the rough parts of LA with people who carry prison segregation & racist mentality... pretty liberal state with more tolerance for that stuff.

with so many people to come in contact with you in la, it's likely you will experience some bad things... i've been down south as well in areas like alabama and certain parts of lousiana and texas and i haven't personally experienced anything negatively there myself either.
