Looks good man.

I like that you chose a diagonal instead of a horizontal/vertical. I think it adds a little extra "class" I guess you could say. Looks nice.

Scott McD 10-17-2009 11:10 AM

Nicely done !!!!!! :thumbsup

Thanks mate :) -- I read online in a carpentry forum that in small spaces, such as I have, you should use a diagonal pattern for the boards as it makes the space look larger. I am very pleased with the end result. I am going to put some waterproofing on it tomorrow -- and it will be ready for enjoying (next year...)

Supz 10-17-2009 12:11 PM

what kind of wood did you use?

LiveDose 10-17-2009 12:15 PM

Nice work.

I just bought a place, the back needs a deck too. Dropped $300 in the DIY store this morning on tools alone. Expensive business this DIY lark.

Pressure treated lumber. Added a translucent natural stain -- which is also waterproof.

JayDeeZee 10-17-2009 07:49 PM

Don't you have to wait a year before you waterproof?

Good work man! Does it matter that you blocked half that window?

NewbieNudes 10-17-2009 07:51 PM

LOL'ing at the "Stagger Inn".

:-D

Spunky 10-17-2009 07:55 PM

The deck looks good,nice work

Crunked 10-17-2009 08:37 PM

Looks good. I rehabbed/remodeled homes for almost 3 years by far the most fulfilling job I've ever had. Feels good to build something or turn something that was shit into something.

JimmiDean 10-18-2009 05:26 AM

Nice work, clean and straight.
Just get ready for that PT lumber to shrink a bit next year.
I see you spaced it tight together, so that should leave you about a 1/2 gap by the time ti dries out.
Very nice work no go have a beer on it.

dav3 10-18-2009 06:10 AM

good work

andrej_NDC 10-18-2009 07:13 AM

Great pics, I'm a wood deck fan, too. :)

That is what I thought -- get them as close as possible, and then let time do it's thing.

Going to have a lager this afternoon on the deck in my Adirondack chair :)

bbm 10-18-2009 10:08 AM

very nice :)

John-ACWM 10-18-2009 10:57 AM

Added bonus - nobody can escape from your basement dungeon via the window!
