Who said Chinese Traffic was worthless?
LOLz.
We know Chinese adult traffic isn't worth much but how about key search terms? Chinese search engine Baidu announces its bid-based advertising system http://www.reuters.com/article/wtUSI...28378720091027 Chinese sell a lot of products to the rest of the world... what kind of product/services would CHINESE want to buy? English tutorials are getting big there (but not as big as in So Korea) Any other ideas? |
I'm bookmarking this thread because I'm curious of the answers. I hope at least a few are business related :)

Most Chinese do not have a credit card. However, practically all of them have access to a phone - to get the required info, they need to make a regular IDD call, and they do:pimp |
I've heard that Adbrite (aka Black Label Ads) pays cpm for ads shown to all countries, including China. Has anyone had experience and can confirm or deny this? I get quite a bit of Chinese traffic to my paysite, so I figured I'd show ads to them and get a few pennies of cpm/cpc, rather than think of it as completely wasted bandwidth.
Naturally, American and European visitors don't see any ads on the paysite. Just the Chinese. Does this seem like a good strategy for that traffic, or has someone been able to do better with it? |
In terms of adult, I am sure the Chinese want to buy, but anything adult is blocked by the great firewall. The authorities will even block sites like facebook, youtube, etc on and off - I was in Beijing not long ago facebook was blocked for a few days, then they randomly opened it up again.
But all the usual adult urls I tested were blocked. So it doesn't matter if there are 1.3 billion of them or whatever, if they can't view your site - it's pointless. On another note, Chinese are better at making things and saving money than spending it like westerners. They are notorious savers, I was told that the percentage of savings of person's disposable income was 30%+. Just walking around on the street it didn't seem like the avg Chinese person was willing to spend money on non essentials just yet. Bottom line is it seems anything slightly objectionable gets shut down quickly. And they don't spend like there is no tomorrow yet either. Hopefully both these things change with time. |
penis does shrink over time.

Well, I was able to answer my own question about showing BLA ads to Chinese, Russian, Czech, etc. users. Unlike what I was told elsewhere, it doesn't work. The ads shown are the "Advertise here" non-ads, probably because advertisers don't want to pay for Chinese impressions (which I understand).
Do you guys do anything with Chinese traffic to divert or get rid of it, or do you just ignore it and figure the Great Firewall will find you and block you at some point, saving the bandwidth then? Thanks. |
