Anyone here who has mainstream sites?
I have a few of them and I'd like to do more but it seems much harder to find good traffic sources. I can find hundreds of adult traffic sources for one mainstream source that doesn't require that you pay them to list you. How do you generate your traffic?

Depends on your site. I have some event ticket sites that I generate traffic for by Craigslist. Then I have a community news site, I get traffic for it by link trades with real estate agents or local business sites. One of the keys for a mainstream site is SEO traffic. It is a bit harder, there is no mainstream TGP..LOL!

Google, Yahoo and Bing [I guess] are pretty good traffic sources. That is who we use.

Also, to maximize traffic, build networks of differing sites for each niche you're trying to hit. |

You can write articles and submit them to depository directories which usually credit you with a link back to your site.

The traffic comes more from search engines who see the backlinks from a blog on a topic similiar to your site than the blogs themselves (of course you'll get some traffic from the blogs). They also sell hard links which you pay monthly for. The blogs seem like a much better deal to me. |
