fucking waco.
i swear to god they've got some fucked up shit in the water there. |
News reports saying the gunman were wearing military uniforms. My sister-in-law is stationed there and we heard from her and she said the base was locked down tight. Supposedly 500 troops doing a sweep of the base.
On a side note... if this turns out to be terrorist related it will be pretty weird considering Sarah is the person who posted the first 9/11 thread. |
Someone just quoted an official as saying it was "an army major with an arabic sounding name".
Hard to believe thats a quote from anyone "official".. but there you have it. |

Though, I am not doing the 'it is terrorism thing' on this. On my own side note...I had no idea that so many people were based there. |

Anyone have that thread? would like to take a look |

Can't you people see what Obama is turning this country into? OPEN YOUR EYES!
These soldiers are being driven mad by the threat of socialism! |
Military people...what is the difference between a base and a post?

On a serious note, what a terrible tragedy... My condolences to the families of those killed and wounded - CNN is reporting 12 dead (including one civilian police officer), and over 30 wounded. :( In addition to the shooter that was killed, Major Hasan, apparently two other soldiers were taken into custody as suspects. All of the wounded are being helicoptered over to Scott & White Hospital which is a big private hospital over in Temple. I have a friend who was supposed to be deployed back to Iraq several months from now. I hope that this guy didn't murder him. Steve |

My cousin's husband apparently was there not too long ago but has now moved onto somewhere in Colorado..or so we think. Hope so. |

When most people go on shooting rampages they are jacked on adrenaline and unprepared for the mayhem, which is why body counts are typically so low. A dozen killed and 3 dozen wounded means the shooters knew what they were doing. Like soldiers. QED. |
It feels odd that one person could kill shoot so many shots in multiple locations on a military base without being taken down a lot earlier.

Found this on Yahoo...

Its on the BBC front page now http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8345713.stm
It does seem pretty strange how he managed to shoot so many people before being stopped |

There are reports that Major Hasan was a Army Psychiatrist, who treated soldiers with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, and that he was a recent convert to Islam, apparently facing deployment to Iraq.

Here ya go folks. Dust hasn't even settled and plans are in motion. At least after 9-11 they waited a day to enact the plans they had ready and waiting months before. I guess now those 400k pre-ordered soldiers will come in handy to go after these homegrown terrorists.
Nov 05, 2009 Counter-terror plans will be revised to reflect Fort Hood and Afghan attacks A soldier turning on his comrades at Fort Hood, an Afghan policeman killing the British soldiers who trained him - two uncannily similar events in two days, but incidents which, across the Western world, security authorities have been planning for and dreading. Since the Mumbai attacks counter-terrorism planning has seen a major shift. Those charged with thwarting or reacting to future terror attacks were alarmed by Mumbai. The shootings in Afghanistan and Fort Hood carry echoes of the attacks in India with the added danger that the enemy has come from within. http://timesonline.typepad.com/crime...-attacks-.html |
It doesn't really seem unreasonable to me that he was able to kill and injure that many before being taken out.. It's a training facility that means the only guns are the ones on the ranges or that aren't functioning for marching and formation training. And if it's true it was some graduation ceremony then all the more "open targets"
|
Sad... very sad.

Glad I'm not in Fort Hood...

Well, you would THINK that with all those GUNS around, someone would have SHOT that/those motherfucker(s), right? C'mon gun advocates, ain't you the ones always sayin': "Oh, if EV-ER-Y-WON was armed & dangerous there would be no more shootings"?
Fascinating. |
