Damn someone drove over the S curve in the SF bridge.
There has been a shit load of crashes at it in the 2 months it has been open but this is the first time a vehicle has gone over the edge. Warning may not be on news yet, nationwide at least. Dude fell 200 feet to the water below. Super sucks for him and I think the S curve they added is fucked up when you drive it.

not sure what the s curve is, but it sounds awful!

#1. That is the Oakland-Bay Bridge (there is not SF Bridge).
#2. Anyone that can not negotiate that "S" does not deserve to be driving on the roads with other people. They should construct an escape lane so they can just drive straight off, into the bay, without damaging anything. |

I think today is the 43'rd crash at that curve. Most was been minor accidents, until today. Say what you want about deserving to drive, fact is they are driving and already have licenses. Often such people get other people into accidents. Oh google map image http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&so...ed=0CAwQ8gEwAA |
seriously that is so dumb that anyone would have an accident on it, seriously should not be allowed to drive

The guy that died was either asleep, not paying attention, or wanted to die. He never even slowed down. Darwinism at its finest. |
Like the official said, it's not a design problem it's a driver problem. I've driven on the bridges in San Fran / Oakland, those people are nuts.

For sake of semantics, it is really called The James "Sunny Jim" Rolph Bridge, it is called several names though. Considering that there are 6 brides into SF anyways I guess it would be easy for people to get confused. Then again some may only think that it has one bridge, the one you referenced. Does not matter really what you have ever heard what people on the SF side calls it. Sides really do not matter when it comes to names. Just like nobody living there refers to where they live as SF, San Fran, nor San Fransisco. Most just call it the City, but we are not just talking to such residents nor using their language. I know what its real name by the way because my grandfather helped build the bay bridge. Like I said i just called it the wrong name when I was posting and should never of abbreviated it if I was going for one of the many names it does have. |

whats really hilarious is the rush hour metering lights before the bay bridge... lets get 16 lanes of traffic up to a stoplight, turn it green, and expect them all the merge into 4 lanes within a 1/4 mile. california. dont miss it.
|
What's the reason for the s-curve? Looks like it's bypassing an older section?

for example when old people are going 55 miles per hour on the freeway in the middle lane on a 65 mile zone..and they change into your lane unexpectedly because they're falling asleep.. I have to be careful when I go out for a walk because they don't see people that well when they make turns..they're reaction time is like 10 seconds slower.. moving on.. |
Its all over the news here in the Bay Area. Truck fell 200 feet but did not hit water.
