- Three WWI vets from Winnipeg all lived on the same street, and incredibly, all of them won the Victoria Cross for bravery in combat. For those not up on their medals the Victoria Cross is Canada's equivalent of the USA's Medal of Honor.

I have several dozen vets in my family, several of whom fought in either world war and served so that years later people like myself wouldn't have to.

This I will never forget.

I feel sorry for those brave boys and girls serving today. They are fighting, killing and dying for nothing more than greed, not freedom. The ultimate bait and switch.

No, those ones are no longer living.

They are still family though, part of the family history.
