Affiliate Programs that have a captcha box on affiliate signup page, WHY?

What is the point? The whole point of a captcha box is so that you know a real person is signing up and not something automated? Who is going to make 100s of accounts to the same company as an affiliate. Don't you think you would catch that if they did? Let's see, typical day you have a couple people signup, then boom you have 100 new affiliates join... problem possibly?

What fucking pisses me off even more is that the damn captcha thing doesn't even work. After trying 10 times of what was a pretty easy to understand couple letters and numbers, it keeps telling me incorrect.

I guess you are not concerned about having affiliates sign up.

Kid of a pain in the ass to remove all those fake accounts... time is money.

Jdoughs 11-13-2009 09:14 PM

What's worse is the stupid Captcha on NATS programs that you get asked to fill out (after filling your name/pass) to log into the site.

I logged in, it was me, why bounce me for a captcha verification. Drives me fucking nuts.

People are too lazy (or stupid) to set some of the default settings.

who makes tons of fake accounts to an affiliate program and do you think it really takes them t hat much longer if they had to do them by hand? Doubt it would really discourage anyone, and come on clicking "Delete" 100x really takes a lot of time, maybe 2 minutes ? please.

maybe their way of preventing you from adding it to a stats remote type program? only reason that makes sense that comes to mind.

And any retard who blocks a stats program such as Stats Remote from gathering stats from their program is just asking for affiliates to not come and promote them.

slavdogg 11-13-2009 09:41 PM

yeah ants captcha is very annoying and half the time it doesnt work

I agree, don't think it would be a good reason to do it, but probably the only reason I could think of.

TheDoc 11-13-2009 09:56 PM

They do it to stop spam bots...

scammers who see a program will allow new accounts to sign up directly for epass. this gives them hundreds if not thousands of outlets to set up accounts automatically with epassporte as the payout option, then when u shitcan one of their accounts for fraud, they have 100 others they can try and fraud you on.

and it happens a LOT, when we caught on to it, i was sitting there for a month erasing 5-10 accounts every day. they go in over time and reg a bunch, build up an a ton of them, and then it takes a lot of work to catch and filter them out. for a lot of ppl in phillipines and other poor countries, even if they have 5 accounts, frauding u for 5 joins a month at $30 PPS, that's a good fucking wage over there, and for you the program owner, it can cost tens of thousands & more each year.

so really, when u think about, isnt it a little ridiculous that u get mad that u have to type in a few letters....

lets say u see 1000 new joins, yeah, theres a problem, its easy to tell, guess how long it would take u to delete 1000 accts by hand, even when u know theyre bad accounts...

and it is ridiculous to think that they wouldn't signup to your program and do everything you said because you installed a captcha on your join page. Auto form fill script, hit one button, type a captcha, done.

THE CAPTCHA ISN'T A DETERRENT.

I'm not so much mad I had to type in a few letters, I am mad that I took the time to fill out a page of info just to have the damn captcha not work after 10 tries when I think they are pointless in the first place.

Captcha is just another link in the chain to cause you to loose potenital affiliates, not to prevent you from potential spammers/scammers.

Jdoughs 11-13-2009 10:08 PM

Biggy, FYC's works like it should.

But there is others that ask you for captcha every 15-20 mins (short cookie maybe) and most of the time, the captcha's do not work properly.

And then some nats programs (most) have the login's on main page, and after you login, it redirects you to a captcha (the same one that rarely works properly) , login screen, getting you to log in twice. Its just poorly laid out or set up backends.

And its mostly Nats, I'm guessing its the 'default' setting.

Ok, so unknown to me this is a common practice. Do you think adding a captcha box fixes the problem or makes them go to another company to scam ?

Install an auto fill plugin on your browser, click one button every field on the page is filled out, type in the captcha word, switch ip, repeat. With out the captcha box they could automate it and walk away. With the captcha box it takes them 10 minutes to make 100 accounts... captcha isn't stopping anything. However the captcha on the site I just tried to signup to that didn't work prevented me, and god knows how many other affiliates from signing up. good job :thumbsup

Well i guess it does prevent scammers when it doesn't work LOL but it prevents everyone else too :(

I don't buy this captcha to stop scammers bullshit... I have yet to signup to a program that has captcha on the actual signup page, they are all on the login page, therefore they already have 100's of accounts and are just blocked for a split second on logging into the account they are already using.

New excuse please.

I don't see why adult programs don't do interviews like mainstream networks. Would cut out a lot of the bullshit. It's a totally different world I guess. It blew my mind when I first started to go through the whole telephone interview every time I joined a new network deal.

Way back in the day I remember when you signed up you waited 24 - 36 hours because they actually reviewed your info and site. Now 99% of the companies let you create an account and it is activated right automatically right away.

Many have a hold placed on the payouts of all new accounts until they have reviewed them etc.
