Anyone have a home automation system?
 

I'm looking into adding a home automation system to my house. Basically I want to be able to control most of my house with it - alarm, heating/ac, cameras, lights, etc.

Can anyone recommend any? I'd also like to be able to access my system via my phone and/or internet.

Looked there and their setups and systems look like shit, not to mention they don't exactly do what I want. Looks like something Walmart wont even carry :1orglaugh

x10 is an industry standard, other companies will sell stuff based on it.

x10, insteon or smarthome.com is probably what you're looking for.

Nor do I want their ugly ass remotes, plugs, or whatever else they have going. Chinese electronics marked up 500% don't appeal to me, sorry.

Get the Jaadu VNC app for the iphone and you can control your home computer from anywhere via your touchscreen, very cool. Not sure about the rest..

Well the day your mom/girlfriend/wife walks in unannounced and catches a bikini clad girl blowing you that cheap little wireless doorbell ad might have more meaning !!!! :1orglaugh
