What's your cure for the cold

I have been sick for over a week now. Was feeling better on saturday however took another turn for the worse yesterday and today. I think its just a cold and not flu, symptoms are runny nose, soar throat, body aches, headache and ear ache. Luckily not all the symptoms at the same time....

Moses G 12-08-2009 04:50 PM

sleep and lots of vitamin C !!

heymatty 12-08-2009 04:51 PM

Orange juice for vitamin C.
Tea with Echinacea for whatever that does.
Alcohol to pass the time.

baddog 12-08-2009 04:54 PM

Just don't get sick. You have to be proactive about that stuff.

exercise and take some vitamin C but not too much as at a certain point you will be beyound what your body can absorb.

CunningStunt 12-08-2009 05:11 PM

Eat apples, they contain 7 times the antioxidants of green tea.

Eat lots of Vitamin C rich fruits, including Kiwi, Blueberries, Guava, Mango, oranges.

Drink lots of fluids.

Do nothing, wrap up very warm, go to bed for a whole day and night.

have kids then stay sick so you cant tell the difference :)

camgirlshide 12-08-2009 09:12 PM

I like those airbore tablets. I think they help even after you catch a cold

Agent 488 12-08-2009 09:16 PM

whisky and street fights usually does the trick.

Adam X 12-08-2009 09:18 PM

dude..

go to the store

get a bottle of the Natures Best or some good brand of

ECHINACEA
and/or
ECHINACEA/GOLDEN SEAL

I'm tellin you I swear by this stuff... take 3 or 4 pills at least 3 times a day until its gone. The cold won't last long. You cant OD on herbs like this, so a higher dose than what the bottle recommends always does me good. It boosts your natural immunities beyond control.. you'll be better in no time.

I swear by Alkaseltzer. Fizzzzzzz

HandballJim 12-08-2009 10:05 PM

Prevention is the key by taking 2,000-10,000 mg of Vitamin C a day during the fall/winter months. Or as much as your system can handle without getting the runs.

Since your sick now, think positive, rest, keep taking vitamin C, also take Echinacea/Goldenseal and Zinc. Drink a lot of fluids and keep warm. If you need to go out, take something over the counter for your syptoms.

tranza 12-09-2009 09:15 AM

Vitamin C! :thumbsup

Psylocybe 12-09-2009 09:55 AM

I eat loads of hot curries when I have a cold, feels like its doing me good, probably isnt:)

Twistys Tim 12-09-2009 10:04 AM

Nasal irrigation is the solution to quick recovery from a cold. Once all that sticky disgusting snot is flushed out, I start feeling 100% better. A hot shower and then a blast with the netipot and I feel great.

CaptainHowdy 12-09-2009 10:09 AM

Kung Pao Chicken ...

Tom_PM 12-09-2009 10:23 AM

Eat well and full of calories and vitamins and minerals. Also take a multivitamin.

I bet that neti pot would kick ass too, although a bit awkward. I'd do it in the shower I think.. blech.

But dont ever do that "starve a fever" bull. You need all the power you can jam into your body to fight illness.

Honez 12-09-2009 10:31 AM

Even with those symptoms it very well could be the flu. I have the same thing and did the whole I feel better one day then the next I am feverish and icky again. Yesterday, after one week of this, I finally had a good day and today seems to be on track as well. The best thing that has helped so far is drinking about a gallon of water a day. It keeps the mucus thinned out and keeps me hydrated after all the fevers. I also take 2000 mg of C three times a day and lots of vitamin D (up to 4000 IU daily). Hot tea, hot chicken noodle soup or any kind of broth based soup will make your throat feel a bit better and the steam from it will soothe your sinuses temporarily. Get lots of rest even if you have to knock yourself out with Benadryl (which works great). Steamy showers also feel good if this crap has hit your lungs.

I travel a lot and use lots of precautions to keep germs at bay (vitamins, hand sanitizer, not touching my face, Sambucol if I feel something coming on) and I rarely if ever, get sick. However, there are times when it just doesn't matter what you do.

I hope you get to feeling better soon!

miss_jody 12-09-2009 10:33 AM

- Vitamin c 3x a day (i use the packets of emergen-c
- oil of oregano 3x a day
- zicam 3x a day

its a cure all

PenisFace 12-09-2009 10:39 AM

If I'm sick (cold, flu, wuteva) I'll masterbate all day long until I recover. Why? Because the orgasm makes you feel like a million bucks, even if you've got a temp of 102 and have been vomiting constantly.

That 15 seconds or so of bliss is what makes being sick for the other 23 hours, 59 minutes and 45 seconds easier to deal with :pimp

Edit: Also bonus points if you vomit while having an orgasm, I bet that'd be kinky as fuck!!!

Imortyl Pussycat 12-09-2009 10:40 AM

with breakfast i drink a cup of green tea and take a multi w/high amount of C and E, 2k mg fish oils, garlic, alpha lipoic acid. i haven't had a serious cold or flu in the 2 years i have been following this regime

born2blog 12-09-2009 10:40 AM

green tea, vitamin c and lots of rest

Agent 488 12-09-2009 10:43 AM

Glad to hear you are feeling better today. Keep doing what you are doing and hopefully it will just run its course. That's what I am hoping for as well.
