Best Way To Transfer Info To Laptop?
Hey guys I just got my laptop back from service and they had to wipe my hard drive to fix up the problem... Now I have to get all my shit moved from my desktop back onto my laptop... Is there an easy way to do this? Are there any programs that can mirror my hard drive on my desktop and place that info on my laptop?
Sorry newbie tech questions :winkwink: DH |
not programs like adobe and such.. but if u had any movies/mp3s, just network both computers :thumbsup

Best bet would be PowerQuest Drive Image
it is a really sweet and easy program. When you put your image on your laptop, it may not wanna boot windows, but here's the sweet part : If you use XP, you can just to a "repair" install, and reinstall over windows, and you'll keep all your settings, registry, programs, etc. |
Just data, cross cable network as stated above.
Full drive, try Ghost. |
oh wait i misread your post...
go to maxtor.com and download the powertools, don't matter what kinda HD u have, but you can mirror it that way, but u'd have to plug both hd's on the same ribbon |

you could never connect a laptop hard drive to a pc hard drive
get a peer to peer (aka crossover) network cable, plug it into both computers. share drives and transfer! |

Ok next really dumb question... Would the network connection wire be the same one I use for my high speed modem?
Thanks DH |

Most likely the cable won't work to network both of you computers without going thru a hub. |
I had to transfer all my files from my desktop to my laptop the other day. I wanted to keep all my customizations, softwares, etc... I didn't want to re-install all this shit...
I found this software and I bought it. It works like a charm! PC Relocator (Alohabob) You can find more about it here :thumbsup |
