Best way of streaming your content
 

Okay so I've tried .flv video files. But no matter what I do I can't convert them to a quality thats good enough for members area content, or as good as wmv files. Well not unless I want the files to be about twice as big..

So what other options do I have if I want to offer my members streaming content in my members area. Must be as good or nearly as good as an equilivant .wmv file.. Or should I just let my users download the wmv files to their harddrives, cancel their memberships and have them share the content with all of their friends??

What encoding method (ie On2 VP6, Sorenson, or FFMpeg) are you using? What are the vid dimensions and bit rates you are currently encoding at?
Doing this correctly, Flash will look excellent at lower bitrates than a comparative WMV file - for anything non-HD.
If you want HD you will need to encode to F4V (basically H.264, as previously mentioned), not FLV.

What does Netflix do?

h.264 .mp4 or .m4v you don't need nearly as high of a bitrate for h.264 as compared to what you are used to with .wmv, and yes what software are you using to encode with?
