I am thinking about making a site targeted at a special group of people and would like it to be facebook-like.

Can anyone make something like that for me? Or maybe you already have a finished script? Price?

Yeah, I have been looking at some of those scripts, but i am not sure if they can handle a lot of traffic. Not FB-amount but pretty much traffic... Well, that is if my idea catches on :D

I'm about to buy this script as well. I've done TONS of research and found this one to be the best per the price. Also, you can hire companies that can mod this for a pretty good price. I'm working on a mainstream project as well.

I haven't heard anything bad about that software. I do know there is a list of companies that are familiar with socialengine.net. I need about 6k worth of modifying the network so I went with them.

You only purchase what addons you want with them as well.
