Meteor streaks across US sky

this is pretty impressive

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8624064.stm

A meteor has been filmed streaking across the sky in Wisconsin and Iowa in the US.

Witnesses said the meteor lit up the sky and described it as looking like a 'huge fireball'.

we're all gonna die :(

I guess the meteor burned up before it fell to the ground. Some meteors fall all the way to the ground and leave a crater.

Cyber Fucker 04-15-2010 06:19 PM

it looks like some bigger one...

I saw one of those things once up at friends cottage. It was pretty amazing thing to witness.

J. Falcon 04-15-2010 07:43 PM

I had that happen to me once. Only now do I realize it might have been a meteor.

Yup, when the big one hit here in Canada couple years ago they found fragments on top of the ice on a pond. next thing you know people were combing every piece of ice in the vacinity looking for chunks. especially after the news started talking about what they were worth. Quite a few pieces of that one wound up being found thanks to the little snow at the time, and the frozen ice. Obviously any rock you saw laying out on the ice was out of place. easy to spot. That one hit about 40 minutes from my home town. I even considered going on an expedition.
