What car would you by for $50-$60k?

I'm looking to buy a Lexus LS460 from a friend, but that if that falls through, I'm kind of curious what other kind of vehicles out there that people like. I would of honestly never thought of the Lexus but my friend talks it up a lot and drove one around a little while ago and its a very nice car.

I have a 2006 BMW 750Li now, but looking to sell that, so not sure if I would want to move to a near model. The S550 is nice, but still way over priced right now... plus I think the 7 is a better car.

I've looked at the BMW M6/M5, Audi S6 and A8, but the A8 just came out with the new body style which looks 100x better but is also $100k.

Personally, I like a bigger type of vehicle (not SUV) and more luxury + speed. I was considering a Maserati Quattroporte but there is no dealership even close to me, so thats out of the question.

Acura TL is a pretty nice car too it looks but Ive never driven one. If I was to get a new car, it would be lease only, versus buying something that is 3 years old with a CPO warranty

I have a 2009 FX-35 that i love it was a little under 60k

Back when I bought my M35 thats what I was originally going to the dealer to buy and saw the M. Great car, but resale value of it is junk. Took a HUGE hit getting rid of it last year for the 7

I would buy a used Jaguar.

I'd save another $15-25k and get a Lotus Exige.

I like those cars...

Instead of buying a new car for $50k, you can buy a used car (original price $100K) for $50k.

Or you could buy a used sunfire for like $1000, and do a shitload of blow...

I want to add Sirius and iPod integration into the car, which is next to impossible since they stopped making the iPod kit and even if I was to find one, I'm looking at between $1200 and $1600 to install. No dice on the back up camera either

Plus the car is out of manufacture warranty and buying a 3rd party one Im looking at about $2500 to $3000 to get... Plus this thing is a TANK! Don't get me wrong, I love it but I'm looking for something a little newer with warranty and a few other options.

That would probably be my choice.

I have driven SUV's for years, so I am not sure I want to climb back into those low riding sports cars or coupe. At 6', it really becomes a chore to get out of those cars that ride so low to the ground.

I've looked at a few of these but resale value is horrible. Thats pretty much why I would not buy any american made car is because in 2 years its worth half of what you paid. Trucks and SUVs on the other hand seem to hold of value a little better.

I'm really leaning towards the M6 convertible. My friend had one when I was in LA and was an amazing car (he had the coupe). I think I'm going to just sell the Audi and BMW private party and buy a beater car for a few months until the price drops down a bit. I heard there is an upgrade to the body style so that should drop prices pretty good come November/December ish.

Otherwise I'm looking at maybe leasing an Acura TL or Mbenz E350. I have a Tahoe Z71 now and that is a monster, but Id like something for my commutes to Philly and Atlantic City :1orglaugh

A slightly used GTR... I became a big Skyline fan from living in Japan and being into sports cars, so it's a given for me :P

I would not hesitate to purchase a used luxury car these days. You get to take advantage of massive depreciation on a fairly new auto, and get much more for your money than if you bought new. Most luxury auto owners treat their cars fairly well so you're not likely to end up with something beaten to crap.

Get the latest year model NSX you can find.

If you need more room, then you may not like the M6. It is an amazing car, but about the same space as an M3 on the inside.

Whatever you are thinking of buying, I would buy a used one for half the price... it's not as cool, but will save you ton of $$$ in the long run...

if you buy 60k car, few years later it will be worth $30k
buy same model used car for $30k, few years later, you will get $20k for it...

new car will cost you $30k vs used one for $10k... sure you don't get newest bells and whistles, but you still drive basically the same car, and save $20k... :2 cents:

The m6 is a great car and an even greater convertible!

I bought a new Ford Mustang last year for a realy good price.
I was looking for a convertible also, but I'm happy with the coupe.
Interior is not so premium, but the car is worth the money and I added a few extras.

If you go for a used car, I would prefer BMW, Lexus or Mercedes.

just out of curiosity... in united states, what would be an average price of used Mercedes C class (older line), lets say from year 2004, and lets say C 270 model?

used, low mileage M5

I would get a yr old M5 if the price is low enough. However I don't like the SMG gearbox and I not sure which year they had other options.
