Win7 Users: How do I....

I've set the power options through the control panel so that the HDD should never sleep and the display should never sleep, and I have screensaver set to 'Never'. I have the machine doing some work that will take a while, and I don't want the screen going dark, but it still goes black after 10-15 minutes.

WTF am I doing wrong?

This shit works properly on my Macs. :helpme

It's in the power settings, you're simply missing it.

There could be a switch in your BIOS.

Follow this step by step and it should work. Did you change to high performance first then set all options to NEVER?

'Hybrid Sleep'?

Was the only thing I can find that still was set to a time. They buried that setting good.

CunningStunt 04-27-2010 03:56 PM

Have you done it for both on battery and plugged in?

Go in the advanced options, there's all kinds of settings in there for turn off disks / hibernate / hybrid sleep and all that BS. Turn it all off.

Nah, it's running on an iMac.

ProG 04-27-2010 03:57 PM

Run > powercfg.cpl > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings

If that doesn't work it is being managed by something other than Windows.

can someone tell me how to use the split screen function? it would come in handy all day long if i knew how to do it. toggling between two sites or pages takes forever. yes, i am technology challenged, this has been established :winkwink:

There's several ways but the one I find the best for me is to go the program/page whatever I want on the left side hold down the winKey and press the left arrow. Go to the program/page you want on the right and then winKey + right arrow.

Grab the window you want and pull it to the side of the screen you want it on and let Win7 do the rest.

Works nicely when you've got 30'' of screenspace to play with.
