why won't Manny Paquio fight Mayweather?

that's why boxing is almost dead in North America - they have two all time great fighters and they won't fight each other. when I was a kid Ali fought anybody and everybody who wanted a shot at him, Hagler and Hearns, Hagler and Leonard, Duran and Leonard , multiple fights - kids have to see big time fights to want to become boxers, they see the NFL and the NBA and the money and the fan worship, they just don't see it anymore with boxing.

Mayweather wants Paquio drug tested - if you have nothing to hide pea in the fucking bottle and fight.

too much money for Mayweather and Paquio not to happen but I see Paquio is running for mayor of the Phillipines - i guess that should only take a day a week to take care of that job so he still will have time for training.

if you are such a big fan of boxing then you should know that it's mayweather that doesn't want to fight manny.

the issue is not drug testing. the issue with manny is that he doesnt want blood drawn on the day of the fight. he has said that he has no problem with a blood test right after the fight. he also has no problem with any of the random testing during training camp.

floyd knows that manny will be his toughest fight and manny is about the only one right now that has equal or better speed than floyd.

floyd is just using the testing as an excuse..

its a shame because it would be a great fight and it needs to happen while they are both in their prime...

ps.. boxing sucks anway.... its nothing like it used to be when i was growing up..

What marketsmart said. It is Mayweather that creates the issues that make the fight not happen. Manny will fight him then go immediately for a drug test but that isn't good enough for Mayweather.

I agree, Manny is the man to beat. Seems like Floyd wants to stipulate what should happen and creates issues. If I were Manny I wouldn't give in to Mayweather's BS.

For one your whole statement is complete bull shit, except for you saying boxing isn't what it used to be. The issue has always been DRUG TESTING, do you honestly think Mayweather or Manny would turn down the biggest fight/pay day in boxing history? Wake up to reality and realize that Floyd wanted olympic style drug testing for the fight and guess who didnt(Manny I'm scared of needles)? Now I want you to guess why the fight fell through. Floyd is the greatest boxer in boxing right now, hands down, no if, ands or buts. Whenever Manny is not on a cycle and is clean im sure the fight will happen with the rules implemented by both parties.

actually i think the best offer that manny has offered is random testing upto 21 days before the fight and straight after. that's a 21 day gap, and there's no excuse for manny not to take it. in fact i am not alone in having suspisions about him now, and he's probably my favourite current fighter.

its a fight that has to happen, its a genuine superfight. manny comes forward for 12 rounds, is as fast as mayweather and throws from all angles, and he's carried his power and chin up in weight - just look at the cotto fight.

mayweather is a defensive genius and great counter puncher, but pac will land fairly regularly. its a 50/50 fight and too much money for it not to happen eventually. i can't wait.

Go do some reading... :thumbsup

mayweather was also accusing shane of still using ped's and we see that is not the case...

you see how mayweather fights.. he fights safe and got hurt last night with a not so big punch in the 2nd...

manny has speed and power and i think could take mayweather and for that reason floyd is using the drug testing as an excuse...

not true... they want blood cut off at a certain point, but still agreeable to urine and they agree to blood testing right after the fight...

but there's drugs that can't be detected by urine. you can't tell me that a pro boxer truly believes that taking a teaspoon of blood will weaken him. whether he is or isn't taking any ped's his legacy is being tarnished for a lot of people by not agreeing to random blood and urine tests.

I have a fear of needles. I faint every time they draw blood out of me. I know Im not a pro fighter but people with Trypanophobia can be tough motherfuckers but be afraid of needles.

he's happy to have blood tests, just not within 21 days of a fight. he also has tatoos, so he's not that scared of needles.

NaughtyRob 05-02-2010 04:26 PM

I totally agree.

I have tattoos, and I'm not phobic of having my blood drawn, but I've had to have alot ot blood work done in my life and a few times I've gotten really butchered. It does something to you.

I always get shit at the labs, they can't believe I'm afraid of needles because of the tattoos, but they need to realize I know to become a phlebodomist its only something like a semester course. They usually aren't nurses, and half the time they fucking suck at it.

I can sit for a tattoo for hours. I got the back of one of my calves done a few months ago and that was probably the worst spot for me so far, but its pain on a completely different level. There is something really disturbing about watching someone stick a sharp metal tube into your arm and fuck up, dig around and try to find another vein- horrifying.

Now when they need blood as I get into that little room my adrenaline goes through the roof, I get sweaty, I can't watch, have to turn my head. It wipes me out.

Don't really know what Manny's reasons are, and they may not be wholesome, but just putting it out there you can have tattoos and still have issues getting your blood drawn.

mynameisjim 05-02-2010 09:34 PM

According the ESPN article posted, in Nevada boxers only take a piss test ONCE before and then after a fight. With today's PEDs that's almost like not testing.

I had no idea the testing was so weak.

tehHinjew 05-02-2010 11:29 PM

wasnt he going to fight mosley with or with out a blood test any way?

but would you take that blood test if the biggest payday of your career by far ($30m+) depended on it?
