Scary stuff... Gov. Ed Rendell, Demotard.... I guess it is just a warm up for obama and his henchmen... Float a commercial at the state level and see how it goes over then move it to a national level..

They'll have a website soon with maps showing who owes what and where they live with a slogan something like, "Your taxes went up because these people didn't pay their fair share!" :winkwink:

It all starts with the installation of a smart meter.

The craziest thing about taxes (in the US) is the number of people who don't pay any.

Quote:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Tax Day is a dreaded deadline for millions, but for nearly half of U.S. households it's simply somebody else's problem.

About 47 percent will pay no federal income taxes at all for 2009. Either their incomes were too low, or they qualified for enough credits, deductions and exemptions to eliminate their liability. That's according to projections by the Tax Policy Center, a Washington research organization.

Crappy ad for sure. Not because of the people it targets, but because its just a general downer on other people. The amount of people actually having to send a check must be pretty damn small. Self employed, people with investments, who else is sending the IRS a check.

if you're an w2 employee, you should still try to lower your withholding to as close to zero as you can get. instead of having payroll withhold money, take that money and invest it for the year. then pay your tax bill in april. the interest is free money you never would have had. instead, people just give the gov't a free loan at no interest, and then get all excited when they get their 'return'.

PA is fucked. I get a refund from the state and I heard it will take MONTHS before I even see anything... not surprised.

Its been on the news and people are talking about this. They are trying to push for people to pay back owed taxes to the state ASAP

Payroll taxes are just a small part of it. You can also owe property taxes if you own your home and many people don't have those figured into their monthly mortgage payment.

Also there are a lot of people who are broke and need a little extra cash so they claim 99 dependents on their W2 and have no taxes withheld. Then at the end of the year they owe. If they can't pay it then it starts to add up.

There are also people who have lost their jobs and went on unemployment. You still have to pay taxes on unemployment.

With the economy doing poorly there are more and more people who owe taxes and every state is having trouble collecting what is owed them. I see commercials all the time in my state where the state is offering to work with you to reduce penalties and interest if you start paying. I have also noticed a ton of ads for lawyers that help reduce taxes owed recently.
