two 20-year-old Gilbert men were arrested in an undercover operation after an advertisement was posted on Craigslist to trade marijuana for an Apple iPad, officials said.

In the posting, Jacob Walker reportedly wanted to trade his Apple iPod Touch and what he called "a quarter of dank blue dream straight outta Cali" for an Apple iPad, Gilbert police spokesman Sgt. Mark Marino said.

Police were notified about the advertisement by a citizen on the department tip line, Marino said. Detectives replied to the posting and set up a meeting with Walker at Val Vista Drive and Warner Road around 3 p.m.

According to Marino, Walker arrived at the scene with Joseph Velarde and gave the marijuana to an undercover detective.

Velarde also had narcotics in his possession, police said.

Walker and Velarde were arrested in connection with the conspiracy to sell marijuana.

i feel much safer now.

How stupid can these guys be? Craigslist is the number one place for criminals to converge so guess what? Cops also patrol Craigslist daily for easy arrests.

It's not legal here in NY, but they've decriminalized it to the point that our Police Officers aren't wasting their time and tax payers dollars with sting operations involving a couple grams of bud.

I have multiple friends who are cops and they all laugh at this kind of shit, and probably wouldn't be cops if that was what they had to contend with on a daily basis.

i have never been charged with possession in NY, but i have had it confiscated multiple times...

They'll get a year in Jail or more. Ouch!

Rochester PD, Monroe County Sheriff, a few local township officers and a few NYS Troopers...these guys have all done the same exact thing.

This kind of retarded use of our police time and money needs to end. This is the equivalent of setting up a bust for one of those obscure 19th century laws like not bathing with a banana on Tuesdays.
