Coast Guard raid seizes 30,000 pounds of
....shrimp.
Shrimpers caught fishing in closed waters - Jun 2010 It was bound to happen, given the increasing desperation of out-of-work fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico. The Coast Guard on Sunday seized about 30,000 pounds of shrimp from two boats that were fishing about 35 miles south of Louisiana's Terrebonne Bay -- an area closed to fishing because of the BP oil spill. Coast Guard officials boarded the vessels Lady Monica and La Borrachita after receiving a tip that they were shrimping in closed waters. The vessels were cited for fisheries violations and the shrimp were dumped back into the sea, it said. "The Coast Guard is committed to ensuring a robust law enforcement presence in the restricted fishing area," Lt. Cmdr. Carmen DeGeorge, chief of the Eighth Coast Guard District law enforcement branch, told the newspaper. "We will continue to dedicate assets to the restricted area to ensure integrity of the Gulf of Mexico seafood." LINK :2 cents: Prepare for Shrimp Cartels to start springing up. And I had some shrimp over the weekend that was the worst tasting shrimp I've ever had. I guess seafood is going to be off my menu for quite some time. |
Isn't the shrimp contaminated anyways? Do they get a discounted rate for oil soaked shrimp?
|
That's no good... :(

Want to buy some Crustaceans dude? These are the real deal ....... hit me up. . |
Here's a fact: 90% of shrimp consumed in the US comes from the 3rd world countries like Vietnam, Thailand and China, where the shrimps are farmed in artificial pools. They are fed toxic growth hormones and antibiotics.

yeah there have been a bunch of people caught doing that already... Forrest needs to give it up.
|
tough for those who make a living of fishing of any kind...though bp is offering most of them work if they are willing to use their boats to help in the clean up efforts
|
Shrimp imports from Vietnam probably got a boost from the BP spill fiasco
|
whats the big deal..add a little white wine and some chopped garlic and im sure they taste great in a frying pan :(
