Favourite black and white films?
Anybody else enjoy a black and white film ever now and then? Which are your favourites and do you have any hidden gems you would recommend?
Some of my b&w faves would have to include: Arsenic and Old Lace To Kill A Mockingbird Third Man and if we are allowed to go more modern then Clerks :) |

I was going to mention La Haine but wasn't sure how many people would know it.
There is also a Luc Besson one I watched recently that is about ten years old but I can't remember the name. |
Wait!!! You guys have missed one of the funniest films ever made!!!
The Thin Man With William Powell and Mirna Loy He is a retired detective, she is an heress.... It's basically a comedy/murder mystery where they spend most of the movie drunk off of their asses. Great great film IMHO. OH.... and also "Best Years of Our Lives" is another totally awesome tearjerker of WWII vets returning home and trying to fit back into society. . .:2 cents: |

total geniuses in comedy and music. there was a story (70s or 80s) about a guy who was dying of cancer and he was severely depressed so he went to a hotel with his vhs player and most of the marx bros movies. He came out of his depression and beat the cancer, claiming the marx brothers saved his life. no one has ever managed to repeat that kind of comedy ever imo. |
