Breaking News! Calgary Flames just sold!
about time..
http://www.country105.com/105spauto.html hockey was born in the US, we should have all the teams.:2 cents: |
lol, too bad you don't have a single player that would make team Canada, mens or womens.
BTW, you're not funny. We stole the Flames from you years ago, and if you think you're getting them back you crazy. This is not true. |
Too bad nobody cares... especially people from Calgary :)
Like that old joke going around Calgary... What's the difference between a bra and the Calgary Flames? A Bra has *TWO* cups. :) |

Half a dozen eh? hmm let me think... Tkachuk.... lol, no fucking way, the guy's a clown and The Great One knows it. No heart, no brains, mild talet. No team with him will ever win a Cup. Hull........... born and raised in Canada, you know why he plays for you? He couldn't make Canada's junior team years ago. Once a cry baby always a cry baby. Leetch, Hatcher....... if there were 15 defenseman on the team they still wouldn't be considered. Modano...... maybe. He'd be your only shot. I mean he's NEVER even scored 50 goals or 100 points in his career, but he's a decent player I'll admin. It's possible if there was a team North America, he'd be the 4th line center. Possible, probably not. I can still think of 6-7 Canadian centers I'd take over him. So, are you going to name your "half dozen" US players who could make team Canada??? |
Leader, got that right! ;)
|
Dammit! You guys made me think.. and on a Friday even! LOL
Hmmm... the only name that sticks out in my mind as a decent American hockey player at the moment is Chris Chelios. Whatcha think, Leader? Could Chris make the team, even though he is the only American player on the Red Wings' roster? :winkwink: I just realized (only because I never really paid any attention) that my home team (the Avalanche) only has two American players, Danny Hinote and Scott Parker. 90% of the team is Canadian, with a few token Swedes, Fins, and Czechs thrown in there for good measure. Veddy inderestink :thumbsup |

I would have said Hull, but your argument has a point. Scratch that. Hatcher and Leech, nope. Big liabilities. I'm not even going to go over the women, because 1) i dont give a shit about women's sports and 2) i doubt anyone else does either yeah Wenchy, the Avs lost their best american player when they traded Drury. Oh yeah, Amonte is a 2nd tier player, fuck him. |
this is a funny conversation. according to nhl.com, in the history of the world junior championship players, 2 of the top 10 are from north america... one from us, one from canada.

Deadmarsh better than Gagne!? YOu must be drunk right now!!:drinkup
Mike Modano Doug Weight Bill Guerin Leclair Poti ...not bad.... btw... do americans know that there's the World Junior tournament right now...!??? |

lol, are you nuts? Redden, Pronger, Blake, Jovocop, Niedermayer, MacInnis, Brewer... how do you fit Chelios or Poti in there? Like I said, Modano could be the number 4 center, but as far as Weight, Guerin, Roenick, or Deadmarsh over Gange, that's insane. And Leclair, I assume that one was a joke. There are people who didn't make team Canada who would be the number one fucking scorer on team USA, Betuzzi for example. BTW, Canada beat USA today (surpise) to get into the Gold medal game undefeated. |

As for Americans making the Canadian Olympic team there are a few contenders Chelios and Modano being among them. Leader your comments on Bertuzzi are fuckin right on the money. I've been watching this guy the last couple of years as he's progressed and knew he was gonna be something Special. When the Wings played the Canucks last year in the playoffs I kept telling everyone to watch this guy. Most were too ignorant too even know who he was. And like I said he would be the Wings biggest obstacle to watch out for and I was right. A big Grapes Rock em' Sock em' salute to all |

the World Junior Championships are awesome, maybe better than the NHL playoffs. The best young players in the world playing against each other. Basketball doesn't have it, baseball doesn't, football definitely doesn't have it. Anybody remember the year Russia's top line was Bure and Mogilny centered by Fedorov? You only get to see things like that at the WJC or the Olympics now that pros are playing.
Only unfortunate thing is that nobody cares about the WJC other than Canadians. Every time they hold it in Europe, even in hockey countries like Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, Russia, the games draw flies. In Canada in small cities like Halifax which host it it's the biggest thing ever. It should be on ESPN 2 at least. That story about the Flames being sold isn't there. Was the poster joking or what? I haven't heard anything about the Flames being sold. |

every year the WJC games are shown live in Canada. Empty arenas always in Europe EXCEPT for the semi finals and championship game.
which place do you think supported it well? They even tried to put them in the Boston/Mass area and it didn't do very well and Massachussetts is big on hockey, college and high school hockey mostly. |

the NHL is kinda fucked. never seen so many empty seats.
Ticket prices in the NHL are too high, because the NHL is a gate driven league without the HUGE TV contracts the NBA and NFL have. Also the new building all over the NHL suck. I hear the Fleet Center is horrible, people loved the old barns like Boston Garden and Chicago Stadium. NHL players are paid WAY too much money, they get the same as NFL and NBA players, yet the teams make many many times less money that the teams in those sports. Very few NHL teams turn a profit. They need a salary cap badly in the NHL, and they probably need to lose some teams that just can't cut it. Still don't know why Boston is drawing so badly this year. |
bettman is a prick.
holik's $9/year contract makes me sick. |
Chong, there's something we can agree on, Bettman is an assclown. He's ruining the game.
Aleister 639 - :thumbsup I have season tickets for the Canucks, Bertuzzi is the shit. Him and Naslund are two of the best players in the NHL, no question. |
