Hey Avn, Who's on the Dot-XXX: A Broad-based Perspective from Industy Leaders panel?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks.

bdjerk 07-27-2010 08:23 AM

Bump for AVN staff to respond. It's very important people are informed.

davecummings 07-27-2010 08:46 AM

I think lawley mentioned in a thread on another board that he would be attending.

So, they guy isn't even in the business, yet will be welcomed to attend a seminar by the industry?

Wow.

Lawley is an industry leader?

So he got to Fishbein as well the way he did with Helmy?

xanadu 07-27-2010 09:06 AM

Hi there,

Lawley is not in the panel, on the contrary we had a meeting with Diane from FSC yesterday about this, she will be there. I will post the list of the participants of the panel today so there is no confusion.
Personally I would like Lawley to be there so Mike, Diane and other people can ask him directly the questions we all have and raise the voice of the industry.

AVN is not supporting ICM by any means, on the contrary Tom Hymes our main internet editor and member of the FSC, was in the last meeting of the ICANN in Brussels and has wrote many many times against .xxx

Good to hear. At least the industries leading media company sees through the bullshit.

Thanks for making your position known 100% in public, and not having any conflicts of interest to cloud people's views.

Tom and Diane are vehemently opposed to dot xxx and quite accurately represent a lot of our feelings on the matter. What time will this panel be at?

I think that the people at the show should show him the fucking door. He should be banned from the AVN hotel premises. The show is not public, so they don't have to let him in. He should be blackballed.

The serious guys are dead against .xxx and the broke bastards are waiting on the next land rush. Keeping an eye on who posts in this thread. :)

At the very least make him buy a fucking badge to get in. :1orglaugh

AVN, I'd like to see you rally the industry and make your cover for the magazine for DECEMBER 2010 about killing this thing. We all know that the next meeting and when it goes in front of the panel to review to see if ICM meets the requirements happens in December 2010.

You should take back the industry by defeating this thing. You can get the word out to thousands upon thousands of people about killing this and proving that there is no support in the industry for this money scamming TLD.

I think someone should propose this to the owners of AVN.

xanadu 07-28-2010 06:00 AM

Jay the seminar is at 10-11 am,hope you can make it.

Bdjerk I hear you and thanks for the feedback, I passed it on :)

So far the panelists are:
Diane Duke, Free Speech Coalition
Colin Rowntree, Wasteland
Andrew Sullivan, Private Media Group/Gamelink

FSC is in favour of having people from the other side so there is a debate in front of everyone. As I wrote before I personally preffer it as well, but not sure if will be possible.

Details below:

10 11am ‹ Regency 1
Dot-XXX: A Broad-based Perspective from Industry Leaders
(Internet, Content, Technology, Retail, Production, Novelty, Legal)
On the heels of the passage by the ICANN board of directors of a resolution
that keeps alive the possible creation of a sponsored dot-XXX
top-level domain, this Free Speech Coalition-sponsored seminar will address
the controversial subject from the perspective of leaders from different
areas of the industry. No matter what part of the industry you are in, if
you do business on the web, you need to attend this seminar!

Thanks for the info. Xanadu... I can definitely make that panel. Hell, I'll even offer to be on it. I've worked with Diane and Colin several times... both are fantastic speakers.

If you guys are unable to get pro .xxx people on that panel, then how about someone neutral on it?

Since Lawley is spouting off all this "industry support" and xbiz refuses to respond to any of the questions in the very thread they started http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...=978028&page=5 perhaps it might be a good idea to ask them (if you haven't already) to step up and be on this panel? I know some talent that supports .xxx... maybe he'll step up and speak on it?

Not only would it be nice to see a wide range of views, but there would be standing room only in the audience.

The big question of course being... does anyone who actually supports .xxx or is neutral about it have the stones to speak?

BTW, he's was at the Brussels's ICANN forum.

GREG DUMAS: Hi. My name is Greg Dumas and I represent PANANAMES,
which is the only ICANN accredited registrar in the country of Panama,
next in Colombia, which is a great place and I highly encourage
everyone to attend that conference.

Interesting comments by him:

Quote:

Gregory Dumas, an industry veteran who runs an adult portfolio, GEC Media, from Panama, lost his seat on the Free Speech Coalition board as a result of his support for .xxx. He is a robust defender of practices within the sex industry, suggesting critics "need to get their head out of their ass, and you can quote me on that ? the women in the adult business, they dominate, they reign over the business, they're who everybody wants to see". But he supports Lawley's effort to tighten up age registration: "I do think the marketplace does need to be cleaner and clearer ? If adult sites can be seen to clean up their act then it will benefit the industry."

So I am a bit confused at who he is representing and what he really is doing.

Definitely he is in support of .xxxx.
