A French nursing assistant today confessed to murdering eight of her newborn babies because 'she did not want any more children'.

Dominique Cottrez, 45, the mother of two grown-up daughters, was facing life in prison for the crimes which took place over almost 20 years.

She 'systematically' strangled the babies after refusing to visit a doctor for contraception and then giving birth in secret.

All of the children, who were killed between 1988 and around 2007, ended up in black bin liners, and police have not ruled out finding more.

Despite completing eight pregnancies, Cottrez has insisted that her husband, Pierre-Marie Cottrez, 47, knew absolutely nothing about them.

He was originally accused of concealing the corpses, and failing to report the crimes, but the charges were later dropped because of lack of evidence.

The pair made a brief appearance at the Palais de Justice in Douai, near Lille, first thing this morning.

Bail was refused, and Cottrez is now expected to be kept in custody until her trial sometime next year.

In the worst cases of infanticide in French history, a tearful Cottrez confessed to the killings after eight corpses were found around the family's current and former homes in nearby Villers-au-Tertre.

Seriously, though, orphanages are there for people who want to give away their kids.
There is no reason to kill children.

I can't imagine what kind of person can stand there with their fingers wrapped around a little babies neck and squeeze, and then go on to live a day to day life. Just don't understand.

9 months of being such a grotesque fat cunt that her husband doesn't even realise she is pregnant followed by giving birth in secret.

Or her 2nd birth could have been really traumatic and have fucked her up in the head for life.

In france the "denial of pregnancy" becomes a pretty well known concept.
But i admit that it sounds stupid.
