Is blogging dying ??

Dont mind the title.. just used it to get more views

But i do want to know what other bloggers are experiencing with rankn newer blogs..
For me, it seems like its getting harder to build traffic for my new blogs..

All handwritten on own domain.. no crap.

By the way.. im not talking about older ones.. those are steady..

Maybe im just impatient nowadays.. but it sure never used to take this long.
Seems like the web is finally getting clogged out :)

Robbie 08-05-2010 04:04 PM

In my humble opinion our blogs are going the way of our tgps.

Who wants to come read some shit I wrote about joining a paysite when they can just go over to Pornhub and see some full scenes from that paysite and then go over to fileshare or rapidshare or a bit torrent site and download the whole damn members area. :(

CunningStunt 08-05-2010 04:14 PM

99% of blogs are boring, that's their problem.

baddog 08-05-2010 04:15 PM

Blogs are rarely huge in traffic quantity, it is all about the quality of the traffic.

mikke 08-05-2010 04:20 PM

text is only for google.. blogs will live in, until google will learn search in images/videos without any texts..

and yes, its a little bit harder with new blogs, they just need more attention - links, more texts.. too much coffeine ;)

on tube ratio 1:1500, on blogs 1:700...

i agree that google is text & seo optimizing.. but even after doing this, it still seems slow.
Usually it wasnt hard to get 100-400 clicks on a new blog after a few months.. But now its just stagnant.

Seems like this technique is goin to be relic soon

Jdoughs 08-05-2010 04:35 PM

Folks, if you're building blogs to make money you cannot have the text as the main featured or focus to the surfer. You feed the engine that, but you sell your traffic with proper photos/videos and REAL sellable content. They should see a site they want to return to, not something that looks like your sisters scrapbook.

Use the blog platform to build with, but don't build 'your fathers blog', who wants to see that? If you want to make a decent living off some blogs you gotta push things a little further then some random text surrounding an image or two.

Ideas? Sure.
  • Run a tube theme and import 'tube' clips, add actual blog posts as descriptions and reap the rewards of the text in the engine, but still a surfable, sellable product. You're surfers see tube, the engine sees unique niche relevant text with a video attached.
  • Run a directory theme/strategy and develop a huge database of posts covering a complete niche. List stars or sites alphabetically and use your tags/category and page structure wisely to create a unique site that isn't really a 'blog'.
  • Run a photoblog but ADULT. There is so many badass 'photo' blog themes and plugins to do crazy things with images, give surfers 980wide images on each post followed by a gallery of crisp 300x400 thumbs. And PUSH them to the sponsor.
  • Use the blog platform to DESTROY image search and put less focus on text, but cashing in on tons of valuble long tail search traffic. It's not as gravy being image search but with the new 'search by last week, month etc' its fucking retarded easy to rank quality image terms.
  • Blog about something new or a little out there, go fishing for some traffic. Build a "mainstreamish" blog that is about Male Celeb Feet and tap into the social avenues that are open for mainstream bloggers. There's tons of them out there, no need to list them.

Think outside the blog.

Seriously? I'm already seeing that on a site that's less than 2 months old, and I was kind of disappointed with how long it's taking. I guess I should be happy.

2 more sites launched in the last 2 weeks though that I'm still waiting on.

kada 08-05-2010 05:37 PM

thanks for taking the time Jdoughs

Im happy for you.. i hope it is 100-400clicks/day pure S.E.. no traffic exchange etc.

If that is all S.E traffic then dont be dissapointed.. if its a new blog that is getting over 150clicks a day really quick.. it will surely grow overtime. All my blogs that are doing 500unq-900unqs a day in S.E started like that..

Thing is; I just cant seem to rank well lately.. Im also wondering if this problem is from my hosts-ip.. but i doubt it. Maybe i just lost my touch :).

Your wrong.

I'm sitting here wondering if (legal) tubes are going to replace blogs. They aren't. Mostly because blogs are all text, and search engines read text, not photos, and not videos. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but not in the eyes of google - in the eyes of google ten thousand hand written words are better than ten thousand photos.

Supz 08-05-2010 07:35 PM

Most of my blogs are doing about 50/50 search engine text/images traffic. I do spend a lot of time on naming and tagging of images though. I dont really do regular porn blogs. Stick to niches and the traffic isnt as big but it is much more targeted. I have a blog up 2 weeks that I am getting 100 uniques a day of very specific traffic, made a few sales. I am happy with it. You arent going to get rich with 1 porn blog. You must have a mix of quality and quantity.

Since you're doing custom blogs, it's all about customization and personality. Give your readers a reason to keep coming back and join the sites you recommend. It's all about building legitimacy/street cred in particular microniches.

Agreed.

The only blogs I will even bookmark are the hybrids. They typically offer a lot of different things. They are build on WP, but have more to offer than a traditional blog.

Blogs are still lovely for keyword rich link building and SEO though.

maxxtro 08-06-2010 02:40 AM

I hope so. Can`t stand bloggers

Yet, tube pages come up top on lots of good money searches. Happens because they use keyword rich titles and descriptions for the videos, plus morphing text feeds from themselves or sponsors that insert additional context-sensitive keywords. Lots of bottom-feeder sites link into these pages, increasing the SERPs for the tube.

I've actually seen the reverse happening with SERPs: the tubes are taking over a lot of the top positions, yet they're more graphics than text.

Agent 488 08-06-2010 08:53 AM

the reasons that tubes are coming up on all the top searches is because some tube owners are the most aggressive link builders out there. the velocity and volume they are building and trading links is crazy.

that is has to do with pics, videos blah blah is bullshit.

Dirty Lord 08-06-2010 08:56 AM

i've just read the tittle
so, yeah

Exactly, I know of some tubes that dominate page 1 for a specific keyword. The top site if you run yahoo site explorer says it has 210k inlinks from other domains.

No one can compete with that until Google itself shits on them.

Argos88 08-06-2010 02:07 PM

blogs are better than ever before... why would you say that?

Maybe you want to say TUBES are dying?

True, but there's other things you can always do with them which they can't get for free ! You gotta to focus in this :2 cents:

Tangible goods but also, niche sites still make sales.
Black midgets fucking white tall blondes with big tits works out fine hehehehehehe
