XBIZ NEWS: Reality Kings' Insurer Denies Coverage in Record Company Suit
LOS ANGELES ? Reality Kings, facing copyright infringement claims from 26 recording company plaintiffs, says its insurer won't provide a defense for the adult company. http://www.xbiz.com/news/125262 |
don, you are quick
|
That doesn't sound good.
|
I wonder what kind of insurance policies those were, liability insurance, business interruption? Seems odd that the insurance policy doesn't cover copyright, patents or trademark disputes.

According to the suit, Reality Kings “simply stole these sound recordings and music compositions, synchronizing plaintiff’s works more than 500 times onto the soundtrack of their pornographic videos without license of consent from the plaintiffs.”
If they didn't have a license to the music then they stole it why should the insurer pay anything? |
Not a good month for Reality Kings. Wonder what happened to that Bieyanka Moore video? Did they ever comment on that?

i am pretty confident that this would fall under a general liability policy... . |

That's what you get for stealing. I hope they lose BIG TIME!

Should read the article:
American Safety contends in an exchange of correspondence with Reality Kings that its general liability policy precludes coverage for claims based on copyright, patent and trademark infringements, as well as "knowing violation of rights of another." |
