If I accept Adult payments through paypal, is there any danger of my account being frozen?

A number of adult sponsors are paying via paypal now. If I accept such payments, is there any danger of MY paypal account being frozen or cancelled?

http://business.avn.com/articles/Pay...ch-414275.html

BTW, is avn.com supposed to be supporting the adult industry? Ringing up paypal and telling them that adult companies are sneekely paying affiliates through them now doesn't sound very supportive.

FeelMyTube 10-03-2010 02:55 AM

yes, actually you can get frozen even if you don't deal with adult...

Agent 488 10-03-2010 03:03 AM

avn = rats.

Jdoughs 10-03-2010 03:04 AM

What makes you think they rang anybody up? AVN confirms it's stories?

Nahhhh.

ravo 10-03-2010 09:23 AM

I was told by a Paypal merchant services specialist over the phone in early September that; "we do not allow adult affiliate payments". Can anyone confirm that this stance has changed in the last 4 weeks?

seeandsee 10-03-2010 09:27 AM

paypal can frozze you, if they don't be carfeull

HunkyLuke 10-03-2010 09:29 AM

yes paypal WILL freeze your account if it finds out --- and here's the kicker, if pp finds out the paying party is disbursing adult webmaster payments it may also freeze all pp accounts that have received money from that account.

brassmonkey 10-03-2010 09:32 AM

paypal is fucking crazy ebay u can sell anything adult which they own

Serge Litehead 10-03-2010 10:12 AM

will Paypal be happy when they see that article and other news media picks up on it?

candyflip 10-03-2010 10:22 AM

I'm sure there's still some risk, but as long as your account isn't tied to [email protected] and something like [email protected] you should be ok.

woj 10-03-2010 11:03 AM

of course there is a risk, why do you think most adult companies are avoiding it?

Davy 10-03-2010 11:08 AM

paypal is not for adult payments. Everybody knows that.
The affiliate programs which offer paypal payout will have to learn a hard lesson.
They will freeze your bank account for a couple of months. And they will keep your information on file so that you can never sign up with the same details again.
I am speaking out of personal experience.

Barry-xlovecam 10-03-2010 01:06 PM

Yes, PayPal will. Don't waste your time with PayPal.

mn 10-03-2010 01:09 PM

worst thing that can happen if you don't like carding or other fraud shit is 180 days waiting for a check... they never steal money

icymelon 10-03-2010 01:27 PM

paypal changed the TOS over a year ago

Ron Bennett 10-03-2010 01:27 PM

Don't ask, don't tell is the policy with PayPal - keep it on the down-low.

Ron

nikki99 10-03-2010 01:35 PM

on no, and I just saw kinkydollars just added paypal back as a payment option

Mr. Cool Ice 10-03-2010 01:49 PM

This is why the porn industry is great. You all know it is 100% against Paypal rules to use your account for anything adult related, yet many of your are taking the risk anyway after you just got screwed by epass, who welcomed adult. Are you honestly that stupid?

You morons deserve to get fucked in the bum until you're out of business.

Tjeezers 10-03-2010 01:55 PM

if non adult email addresses are being used to send and receive, how will paypal find out. It is just an payment from company to affiliate and can be done discrete enough.

Its not like your selling access to a paysite or something, there is not a danger for charge backs also.

Anyway, if your not sure, then dont use them.

247mg 10-03-2010 01:57 PM

I personally contact them and already and ask for it and they told me to contact [email protected] their policy depart. But i m pretty sure they will suspend your account. You can carry on but dont mention any thing related to adult and create non adult email addressrs.

Paypal process pirated porn. Not pay porn. :error :helpme :(

2MuchMark 10-03-2010 07:10 PM

Why are you asking GFY'ers? Why don't you call Paypal and ask them directly? They will tell you exactly what you are allowed and are not allowed to make or accept payments for.

HighEnergy 10-03-2010 08:05 PM

eBay owns PayPal since July 2002.
They accept PP in their adult section since Feb 2009. everythingelse.shop.ebay.com
You need to login to your eBay acct to view the adult section.
So yes, there are certain adult things you can use PP for.

I sell adult domains, adult hosting, adult templates using PP. I even requested their written permission which they provided. I wouldn't think paying a sub-contractor would be an issue.

From their AUP:

(e) items that are considered obscene,

(g) certain sexually oriented materials or services,

Hardly clear cut when discussing payments from affiliate programs.

It is not an item, so E is ruled out. G does not define anything.

Your question is analogous to this one:

"Will the Sun come up in the morning?"

Or this one:

"Does a bear shit in the woods?"

Try this:

"Is the Pope Catholic?"

tiger 10-03-2010 10:20 PM

Use paypal, long enough you and your account will get fucked in the ass that is for sure.

InfoGuy 10-03-2010 11:55 PM

eBay / Paypal are a bunch of hypocrites. How many tens of millions of dollars did eBay earn from the prostitution ads that were on Craigslist?

IMO, it's a substantial risk to take adult affiliate payments via Paypal. If you knowingly take on that risk, don't whine later when your account gets suspended.

Altwebdesign 10-04-2010 03:58 AM

paypal paypal, risky business!!

michael.kickass 10-04-2010 05:31 AM

Yes there is, Paypal doesn't like porn!

ajrocks 10-04-2010 05:57 AM

Paypal will take you money. They have cleaned out accounts on our company twice, once the money was returned about 3 months later, one time we never did get a dime back. Anyone that does business with Pay Pal in adult is just playing with fire.

Naughty-Pages 10-04-2010 08:12 AM

Received an email from Anilos, here is a snippet:
Quote:

...... Paypal is our payment of choice for webmasters outside the US. We have permission from Paypal to do adult webmaster payouts. There is also no fee for paypal, we cover the fee.

They might be making an exception, because the payments are not actually being used for porn itself.. (i.e.: memberships and other things with high fraud and chargeback rates). If you look at what an affiliate commission actually is, it's more of an "advertising" payment which would technically not violate their TOS.

Still, even with permission from paypal in writing, i am not sure i would choose that as an option for affiliate payouts.. primarily because I think it could raise a flag on a paypal account and cause them to scrutinize it harder than usual.
