Problem is they are using rubber bladders to dam the lake and it is in the fucking desert where there is nothing but sunshine beating down on said rubber.

I thought that was an overflow catch for a sewer! I had no idea that was a lake.

/sarcasm

I have no idea how any goes in that lake or near it. It smells like a wet trash can.

They are pushing it so they can be ready for some marathon that is scheduled to be held in Tempe and the lake is part of the event.

You wouldn't catch me even putting my feet in that thing. Allot of people don't know, but when the flooding season would come, all the medical waste that was dumped on the Indian reservation would come through there and it always required special clean up to remove syringes and other waste.

I am sure over the 15 years it flooded that stuff has leached into the soil pretty good. Not only that, but people have come down with some sort of skin irritation from being in it.

This new section will now outlast the old ones that are still in place. I think it would have been better to build another type of dam, hell....even concrete would last for ever, so to speak.

It should last for years, totally different materials.
I've been there a thousand times and have never seen the nasty stuff you mentioned.
Just lucky I guess? :)
