Play your favourite DOS Games

for those of you who were around for the DOS era.

Found a cool emulator called dosbox

http://www.dosbox.com/

then download roms from http://www.doperoms.com

I installed dosbox into c:\dosbox

also created a games dir inside dosbox.

when downloaded each rom and extracted into the games dir, all I did was launch dosbox and did a few lines

(game i used to play on the pc)

Countdown was a point-and-click adventure game released by Access Software for MS-DOS in 1990. The player plays as Mason Powers, a CIA agent who wakes up in a Turkish mental hospital, suffering from partial amnesia and accused of murdering his supervisor. Powers must escape the hospital, find out who framed him, piece together his memory, and prevent terrorists from blowing up a peace conference
mount c c:\dosbox\games\countdown

then goto c:

and run the .exe

Ummm what year is this? Queue the Back to the Future pics.

Just in case I'm caught in a time warp I'll impart this knowledge too, in case I'm whisked away by the aliens soon:

- You can put CDs in a DVD drive. It will even read them.
- There is a pulse/tone switch on many phones which lets you dial out if you're out in BFE without DTMF support
- Many apps have support for .gifs still
- If your car's A/C takes R12 you're not quite SOL
- There is this thing called a parallel port which is a good place to hook up a printer

If you need the horse results for the future, can't help you there. My nemory isn't _quite_ that good.

Someone set us up the bomb!

Wow...surprised you didn't know about DosBox fris. I've been playing old games with it for like 5+ years and it's the bomb. Good games w/ it are One Must Fall, Master of Orion, Alley Cat (for REAL old school), Knights of Xentar (fun hentai RPG), Hexen, Epic Pinball...there's a bunch.

First game I ever paid for. AWESOME game. Back then it was normal to have a PO Box / etc insted of a URL.

Very good times, those.

And I still get a bit spooked when someone starts flailing around with a chain.

Nice! Yea OMF was the shit...Flail, Jaguar and Pyros were all bitchin' robots...I loved getting Flail and Jaguar especially to be fast enough to string together longer combos for more points. I wish there was more games like it - fighting game or whatever but with a quest element to it...makes it 10 times more interesting and replayable than the typical fighting game.
