Steve Martin

Does anyone find him funny any more?

Last decent film he did was planes, trains and automobiles.

Scott McD 10-16-2010 07:01 AM

Not sure if it's that i don't find him funny anymore, just that i haven't seen him in any movies for ages.

He will always be remembered as being good though for his role in that movie alone. Love it !!

rogueteens 10-16-2010 07:01 AM

no, he has never been funny.

Showman 10-16-2010 07:04 AM

He was a wild and crazy guy!

Indeed, its funny, it came out on video about 6 months after planes, trains & automobiles.

Jarmusch 10-16-2010 07:13 AM

I've always found him funny. But I haven't seen any recent movie with him though.. last one I saw was Bowfinger, pretty fucking funny movie.

The pink panther & the second one is a good family film, or lightens the mood :thumbsup

charlie g 10-16-2010 07:25 AM

I think he i funny too. But the terrible accent in the pink panther movies is unwatchable for me. Scoundrels, Planes, the jerk...classics.

justinsain 10-16-2010 07:27 AM

Steve Martin is still ok. It's Chevy Chase that's getting painful to watch.

Agreed with those 3 being classics :thumbsup Its a shame that you didnt get the funny ripping it on the french accent. It was meant to be amusing. "Amburrrrrga"

The Ghost 10-16-2010 07:34 AM

Had a funny small roll in a "30 Rock" episode not long ago.

closer 10-16-2010 07:36 AM

Not the best comedian in town

gmr324 10-16-2010 07:37 AM

I loved him in The Jerk and can't watch that movie enough times. The Father of the Bride movies didn't do it for me.

yes, his WILD and CRAZY GUY stand-up comedy album was the very 1st record I ever bought along with the Soundtrack to Star Wars..I think I was 9 or 10 y/o

seeandsee 10-16-2010 07:47 AM

i like his movies, not top funny but its good actor

zeuse 10-16-2010 07:50 AM

Once you have seen him in one film you don't need to bother watching him in anything else. He only knows how to play one charactor, a shit one at that.

One of my favourite parts of the film... "gobble gobble gobble"

You're in the minority...

Planes, Trains and Automobiles
LA Story
The Jerk
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Roxanne
Three Amigos

All absolute classics.

GTS Mark 10-16-2010 08:34 AM

He's on twitter now as well! Love that wild and crazy guy!!! :-)

Black All Through 10-16-2010 08:36 AM

I didn't mind HouseSitter

MrBottomTooth 10-16-2010 08:38 AM

I'm cringing from just the thought of watching those films again.

yutenjiboy 10-16-2010 09:33 AM

The last funny movies he did IMO are:
  • Planes, Trains and Automobiles (in my top 10 all time favs)
  • Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

He has sadly been on a downward spiral since then (with a couple of exceptions). The two Pink Panther were the final call for me regarding Steve Martin.

No way, maybe roxanne, that wasnt one of his best. LAstory & The Jerk was pretty crappy but Dirty Rotten Scoundrels & 3 amigos are both classics :winkwink:

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 10-16-2010 09:40 AM

Every student of comedy should view The Jerk - one of the greatest comedies of all time.

I liked the two Cheaper By The Dozen movies, and I thought he played a good Inspector Clouseau in The Two Pink Panther movies:

I think I like Steve Martin better as an actor, but I might have to agree that Chevy was funnier. The humorous roles he played always fit him like a glove, like the Vacation and Fletch movies.

DWB 10-16-2010 12:03 PM

If you don't like Three Amigos or The Jerk, you like little boys. Simple as that.

v4 media 10-17-2010 02:00 AM

The man with 2 brains was on an obscure channel here last night I found whilst zapping.
Hadn't seen it for years but found myself chuckling in a few places.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 10-17-2010 02:05 AM

Steve Martin at his best was The Man With Two Brains... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085894/

Add to that list. Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid.

I saw a straight film he was in recently on HBO. He played a con man and was good. Brilliant film, can't find the title.

Think about how many comedy films you've seen in the last few years that really made you laugh. Hangover and Get Him To The Greek stand out for me, the rest I can't even remember.

CunningStunt 10-17-2010 02:32 AM

He was funny as fuck until Roxanne, then it all went to pot.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 10-17-2010 04:30 AM

If you don't like Steve Martin or his brand of humor, then all I have to say is...
