what do people want for free?

What would make you bookmark/return to a site if you knew you had a good chance at winning something at decent (1:50-1:100 odds)?

Post specific things and maximum value.

All sorts of lottery laws apply to what you suggest. You have good ideas but the gambling police will shut you down in a New York Minute.

People want everything for free. I have seen people flock to sites or stores for free soap, razors, or even sham wow towels. Of course big ticket stuff like ipads or xbox's work too. The real trick with this type of site is making it look legit and not coming off like a scam or spammer.

:2 cents:

Freedom's just another word for "Nothin' left to lose!"

I'd stick around for cheese spread. Cheese spread isnt something that you think of buying when your at the store, you think "why the fuck would I ever need this shit." Then one day your making a bologna sandwich and you think to yourself, "fuck, I really wish I had some cheese spread."

that or maybe a pack of AAA batteries

its not gambling if he doesn't charge them. It is ok to give stuff away for free.

What people want for free? Everyone would want money. Beyond that it would depend on your demographic, 18-24 year olds will want something different than 30-40 year olds etc.

Do the laws apply if the site doesn't charge for the chance(s) to win something?

Free is an odd thing these days. I have a friend that drove 20 miles out of his way to get free fries from a restaurant, but he won't take two seconds to create a free account or fill out a form online to get something free. So I would think you would either have to give away something of real value or make getting it very easy.

he probably spent more money on gas then he saved by getting the fries for free. interesting the way some people think lol.

I'm sure he did. I was even busting his balls about it. He just said he had heard about it on the news and thought it was cool. Pretty wild.

I know someone that will go miles out of his way to buy slightly cheaper petrol who can't see that he is negating any saving. People do funny things for a perceived saving.

That's like back a few years ago in Canada, every once in a while certain gas stations would drop their price by say $0.10/liter for a day. This of course got broadcast on all the radio stations, prompting loads of people to take half a day off work, and sit in line at a gas station for hours with their car idling, just to save $4 on their next fill up.

They probably burned more than $4 in gas while their car was idling for hours, waiting to fill up, let alone losing half a day of work / wages. And I can just picture these guys going home to their spouses, saying "Hey honey, managed to save us some money on gas today. You know... this is how the world works. If you want to make it, you have to keep your eye on the ball like this.". :1orglaugh

I reckon simple wins to have days out or spent with the model or production can work well :2 cents:

Whether its a solo girl website where the member obviously likes the model or, a site with many productions, playboy, twistys etc etc. A day with the crew could be a fantastic win once a month draw, especially if flights were paid for.

Natalie & I hope to move to Spain in the next 3 maybe 4 yrs. Ill be doing a monthly draw to give a member a weekend with us, flight, picked up & dropped off to the airport, accomodation with us & to join in or watch a camshow or production should be an ideal ticket to good success for a membership website.

Of course, the only negative point to this, is half the members that join are guys just having 10minutes to themselves in work time or maybe half hour at night after the wife has gone to bed.

The postive to the neg, is that these members would enjoy watching the live show or scene filmed, especially if the lucky winner that month was involved. Nothin like real life porn & the entertainment of non scripted porn scenes from guys that are like you & not porn stars :winkwink:

Its kind of a win win situation :winkwink:

It's a free site. No one has to pay to play.

I guess what I am getting at is would you return to a site often if you knew you had a good chance of winning...

$5 item? $10? $20?

if you are talking a cheap item then maybe some swag... little things like shot glasses, caps, good pens etc... do a search for promotional items, then just have them customize it with site logo etc and YOU pay the shipping. That can get people interested . Maybe changing what you give away each month, purchase so many units of one thing and when they are gone they are gone and next month brings a new thing

$100 or less eGift cards to good online retailers or first 100 people get double cash back.

Consumers love a good deal.

Tom_PM 11-10-2010 12:25 PM

Gift card. Amazon or.. whatever. Something with a wide appeal or footprint, or at least not too exclusive that someone wouldnt even want to shop there for free.
