The New MySpace.com

Someone just linked me this:

http://creative.myspacecdn.com/desig...ng/browser.htm

I must say, I'm impressed. IMO they fucking nailed it, soup to nuts... It looks to be very well thought out and planned with a very clean design.

I'm not sure if they're going to be able to battle the winback from Facebook but they DO have the email addresses and the funding... and apparently they've drummed up some talent. Should be interesting!

myneid 11-12-2010 10:44 AM

yea, i know some people over there, and they really are not trying to compete with facebook but instead carve their own niche.
their plan sounds great and i cant wait to see it and how they execute it.

Agent 488 11-12-2010 10:51 AM

hard to tell. funny they could stop the bleeding if they just killed the custom templates and ten audio players going at the same time and just had a simple easy to load and navigate layout. it hope it survives, it is great for finding new music.

nikki99 11-12-2010 10:52 AM

Tom is the master

CaptainHowdy 11-12-2010 10:54 AM

I agree. It was the custom templates, tons of audio and video players autoloading that killed it. You couldn't visit anyone's pages without feeling like you were on dial-up again, if your browser didn't crash.

JD 11-12-2010 01:20 PM

myspace = facebook's retarded ginger cousin

I agree, got tired of all the spam too, people pushing their bands, click on an advert and get spam hell. Hope they do more than a new look. IMHO, I don't like the extra tool bars

LeRoy 11-12-2010 02:06 PM

Not cool enough!

Man... that shit is wack!

There's only so many damn social networking sites these days, my guess is most people have already settled in with facebook and twitter.

And what ever happened to Friendster? lol, that was the first social networking site I was introduced to back in the days.

ShellyCrash 11-12-2010 03:19 PM

I think this is 100% the right way for them to go. For artists, bands, performers, etc myspace has alot more to offer, Facebook's platform has never really catered to their needs.

They may never overtake facebook, but it will give them the edge in one market, something to hold on to.

Chris 11-12-2010 03:22 PM

did they get rid of glittery graphics and not allowing 10000 auto plays on one page yet?

JD 11-12-2010 04:00 PM

holy shit... someone REALLY hit me up on ICQ to tell me they didn't like my ginger comment... find a new hobby folks...

BIGTYMER 11-12-2010 04:12 PM

Still looks like shit to me.

They should rename it to MyMusicSpace.

Ginger is not a racial slur, and any idiot who takes it that way is dumb as fuck.

Signed,
A Ginger.

Exactly. Myspace is a mess, Facebook is so clean, simple yet completely functional. Their advertising is clean and unintrusive as well, they also do a much better job of policing abuse.

I signed into my myspace after over a year and my mailbox was full of bullshit spam and the homepage has all sorts of flashing cheese dick banners. They try to offer so much it's counter-productive.

Facebook is social networking to connect with friends and family, that's it, and that's why it works.

It's the same reason Google works, focus on the functionality of the primary service your site is built for and it will be successful.

I think the reason it's good for finding new music is because of the custom templates. The bands want to express their creativity. If they take away the custom templates, all the users they have left may as well go over to FB too. At least they would have more friends there. :1orglaugh

seeandsee 11-13-2010 04:11 AM

i never got into myspace, baershare was better back in time

anexsia 11-13-2010 08:07 AM

I kinda like the new Myspace...but Facebook is still the better social network.

So when you gonna show me something that says calling someone a ginger is racist... Because so far you're failing hardcore at it.

AmeliaG 11-13-2010 11:53 AM

I feel like Facebook and MySpace are really different products and should be different products, such that there is completely room in the marketplace for both. Unfortunately MySpace has lost sight of what their product was by far the best for.

sandman! 11-13-2010 12:22 PM

people still use myspace ?

LOL

Well yeah, they'd have to be pretty stupid to try and compete with Facebook.
